With "Les Chants de Jésus", the Schola Regina choir, conducted by Philippe Nikolov, brings to a close the trilogy of sacred songs initiated by its producer and artistic director, Max Guazzini. After Credo (2011) and Les Chants de Marie (2015), this 3rd opus aims to introduce the treasures of liturgical music in a popular spirit, to as many people as possible, but also to share them with believers, to remind how diverse our musical culture is. Taking its source in Gregorian chant, this music brings together the centuries through different musical forms that today rub shoulders.

Thus, the very old “Christus Vincit” from the 7th century, the Gregorian hymn of Compline “Te lucis ante terminum” prior to the 8th century or the Christmas carols “Les Anges dans nos campagne” from the 16th century and “La Marche des Rois” cohabit with very recent songs from the Emmanuel community – such as “My Father, I abandon myself to you” and “Closer to you my God” –, or even the “Anima Christi” composed in the year 2000 by the Italian prelate Marco Frisina, passing by the moving song of the Titanic, “I believe in you my God”, or the “Lauda Jerusalem”.

Over all the recording sessions, a total of 52 professional singers have come together to offer what will perhaps be one of the last recordings of this magnitude for a popular classical record.
Philippe Nikolov, co-artistic director, choirmaster and musical director, maintains: "I hope that this album will make you want to get together, in your parishes, in your families, on pilgrimage or simply among friends to share the joy of sing together. »

The album cover image is inspired by the visions of Saint Faustina (1905-1938), a Polish mystical nun. It represents the merciful Christ after his Resurrection, with his Sacred Heart.
