    Part Three of the Cremaster Cycle

    Cremaster 3 directly references all five films in the cycle in a number of scenes: the demolition derby (each car represents a different film), the harness race (each team wears silks bearing the logo of a different installment), the Order (each level of the Guggenheim Museum presents a challenge related to a different Cremaster film), and the closing scene atop the Chrysler Building (the Architecht holds five bouquets, whose flowers symbolically refer to the five films).

    The full series was released in a limited series of 20 sets of DVDs, sold each for at least $100,000, and will not be made available on mass-market DVD. However a 30-minute part of the third film is available on DVD, and the latest installment with his girlfriend, Bjork, Drawing Restraint.

    Au début du XXe siècle, Butch Cassidy et son ami Sundance Kid pillent les trains et les banques. Les deux malfrats élaborent un plan ingénieux qui leur permet de dévaliser deux fois le même convoi, mais les autorités sont sur leur piste. Le Kid retrouve son amie, Etta Place, une jeune institutrice, et Butch Cassidy improvise avec elle un brillant numéro à bicyclette. La seconde attaque de l'Union Pacific oblige les deux complices et Etta à abandonner leurs amis et à fuir en Bolivie. Là, ils poursuivent leurs exploits criminels et ce, malgré la défection de la jeune femme, effrayée par la tournure que prennent les événements.

    Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, the leaders of the famous Hole in the Wall Gang, are planning another bank robbery. As they return to their hideout in Hole-in-the-Wall, they find out that the gang has selected a new leader, Harvey Logan. He challenges Butch to a knife fight, which Butch wins, using a ruse. Logan had the idea to rob the Union Pacific Flyer instead of banks. He wanted to rob it twice, the idea being that the return would be considered safe and therefore more money might be involved. Butch takes this idea as his own.

    M. Milan est un tueur à gages qui doit exécuter son contrat depuis sa chambre d'hôtel donnant sur le palais de justice de Montpellier. Mais son voisin, François Pignon, représentant en chemises délaissé par son épouse, tente de se suicider en se pendant à la tuyauterie de la salle de bains et provoque une inondation. Milan persuade l'hôtelier de ne pas appeler la police, promettant de veiller lui-même sur le dépressif pour éviter une récidive. Il se trouve alors englué irrémédiablement dans les problèmes de Pignon au détriment de sa mission.

    Professional hit man Ralf Milan takes a room in a hotel opposite the law courts in Montpellier - his mission: to assassinate a key witness in a gangland trial. In an adjacent room, François Pignon is about to commit suicide. Now that his wife has abandoned him for another man, he has no reason to live, so he tries to hang himself. The attempt fails, and the result is a burst water pipe that starts to flood Milan’s room. To keep the authorities away, Milan has no other option than to deal with Pignon himself. Having come to regard Milan as a friend, Pignon appeals to him to help him repair his broken marriage and his broken life.
