Having returned from fighting in World War I, James Allen doesn't want to settle into a humdrum life and decides to set off to find his fortune. He travels the length and breadth of America, working as a skilled tradesman in the construction industry. When times get tough however, he finds himself living in a shelter where an acquaintance suggests they go out for a hamburger. What the friend really has in mind is to rob the diner and Allen soon finds himself working on a chain gang with a long jail sentence. Allen manages to escape however and heads to Chicago where over several years he slowly but surely works his way up the ladder to become one of the most respected construction engineers in the city. His past catches up with him and despite protestations from civic leaders and his many friends in Chicago, he finds himself again on the chain gang. Escaping for a second time, he accepts that to survive, he must lead a life of crime.

Hired gunman Cole Thornton turns down a job with Bart Jason as it would mean having to fight an old sheriff friend. Some months later he finds out the lawman is on the bottle and a top gunfighter is heading his way to help Jason. They also are accused of bank robbery. And they "enlist" in the army, and burn down the fort. Amid all this the army is beseiged by someone stealing their supplies.

A gangster movie where all the gangsters are children. Instead of real bullets they use "splurge guns" that cover the victim in cream. The story tells of the rise of "Bugsy Malone" and the battle for power between "Fat Sam" and "Dandy Dan".

Bank submanager Jimmy McCoy finds her a job in the bank only to be cast aside as she hooks up with the bank's president. When he complains of not seeing her she says: "I'm working so hard I have to go to bed early every night.

Leonard Maltin Review: 3.0 stars out of 4. Lost in wilderness of Australia, two children rely on young aborigine in order to survive. Roeg, in his first solo outing as director, also beautifully photographed the film; lush score by John Barry.

Wilde

Wilde is a 1997 British biographical film directed by Brian Gilbert with Stephen Fry in the titular role. The screenplay by Julian Mitchell is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning 1989 biography of Oscar Wilde by Richard Ellmann.

There's nothing like grabbing your attention right at the start! As the camera trucks out, sure enough, there is a short little guy sticking out of the lady's stomach with his legs and feet protruding from her back. The woman does get used to her visitor, and so begins this film about their relationship. The new arrangement requires some adjustments and the woman calmly cuts a couple of wide holes in her dress so the little fellow can poke his front and back ends out. At meal time, the two sip their soup from bowls on two separate tables, one above, one below. While in the bathtub, the little man (still attached to his host) wears a swim mask and breaths through a snorkel.
