    Le nombre de ratons laveurs en Amérique du Nord a fortement augmenté ces dernières années. Au travers d'expériences de biologistes, l'on découvre comment, attirés par la profusion de nourriture disponible dans les poubelles, les ratons laveurs, ont su s'adapter à un environnement urbain. L'utilisation de caméras nocturnes permet d'avoir accès à leurs moindres faits et gestes et des puces GPS de suivre leur déplacement. Ces animaux ont un sens du toucher très développé : ils peuvent ouvrir la bogue d'un fruit avant de le manger ou bien enlever un tendeur qui maintient une poubelle fermée. Le nombre croissant de ratons laveurs peut néanmoins s'avérer problématique comme au Japon où ils s'attaquent au bois des habitations et causent d'énormes dégâts comme on peut le constater dans un temple bouddhiste.
