Variational Methods in Partially Ordered Spaces

Variational Methods in Partially Ordered Spaces by Alfred Göpfert , Hassan Riahi , Christiane Tammer , Constantin Zǎlinescu
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 576 Pages | ISBN : 303136533X | 78.1 MB

In mathematical modeling of processes occurring in logistics, management science, operations research, networks, mathematical finance, medicine, and control theory, one often encounters optimization problems involving more than one objective function so that Multiobjective Optimization (or Vector Optimization, initiated by W. Pareto) has received new impetus. The growing interest in vector optimization problems, both from the theoretical point of view and as it concerns applications to real world optimization problems, asks for a general scheme which embraces several existing developments and stimulates new ones.

The Stationary Semiconductor Device Equations

The Stationary Semiconductor Device Equations by Peter A. Markowich
English | PDF | 1986 | 202 Pages | ISBN : 3211818928 | 16.1 MB

In the last two decades semiconductor device simulation has become a research area, which thrives on a cooperation of physicists, electrical engineers and mathe maticians. In this book the static semiconductor device problem is presented and analysed from an applied mathematician's point of view. I shall derive the device equations - as obtained for the first time by Van Roosbroeck in 1950 - from physical principles, present a mathematical analysis, discuss their numerical solu tion by discretisation techniques and report on selected device simulation runs. To me personally the most fascinating aspect of mathematical device analysis is that an interplay of abstract mathematics, perturbation theory, numerical analysis and device physics is prompting the design and development of new technology.

Several consistent solutions for cooperative system control have recently been identified by the authors of the current monograph. This was achieved by solving three separate tasks that are essential for solving the problem of cooperative manipulation as a whole. The first task is related to the understanding of the physical nature of cooperative manipulation and finding a way for a sufficiently exact characterization of cooperative system statics, kinematics and dynamics. After successfully completing this task, in the frame of the second task, the problem of coordinated motion of the cooperative system is solved. Finally, as a solution to the third task, the control laws of cooperative manipulation are synthesized.

Mathematical and Computational Studies on Progress, Prognosis, Prevention and Panacea of Breast Cancer by Suhrit Dey, Charlie Dey
English | EPUB | 2022 | 377 Pages | ISBN : 981166076X | 78.5 MB

This book’s aim is to study the mathematical and computational models to analyze the progress, prognosis, prevention, and panacea of breast cancer. The book discusses application of Markov chains and transient mappings, Charlie–Simpson numerical algorithm, models represented by nonlinear reaction–diffusion-type partial differential equations, and related techniques. The book also attempts to design mathematical model of targeted strategic treatments by using Skilled Killer Drugs (SKD1 and SKD2) to suggest the improvisation of future cancer treatments. Both graduate students and researchers of computational biology and oncologists will benefit by studying this book. Researchers of cancer studies and biological sciences will also find this work helpful.

The Complex Variable Boundary Element Method in Engineering Analysis by Theodore V. Hromadka
English | PDF | 1987 | 397 Pages | ISBN : 1461291038 | 15.4 MB

The Complex Variable Boundary Element Method (CVBEM) has emerged as a new and effective modeling method in the field of computational mechanics and hydraulics. The CVBEM is a generalization of the Cauchy integral formula into a boundary integral equation method. The model ing approach by boundary integration, the use of complex variables for two-dimensional potential problems, and the adaptability to now-popular microcomputers are among the factors that make this technique easy to learn, simple to operate, practical for modeling, and efficient in simulating various physical processes.
