Kjetil Bjerkestrand - HEKS (2024) [Official Digital Download 24/96]

Kjetil Bjerkestrand has a long track record of exciting work, both as a composer, arranger and record producer. He has a broad interest in music, and has both played and made music in most genres. We met Bjerkestrand for the first time in a concert series he produced at Victoria together with Arve Tellefsen, a series where we got jazz, folk music, baroque, opera and electronic music tastefully composed. In addition to working with the biggest Norwegian and international artists, he has also had an ear for the young talents. Kjetil has in recent years composed more and more his own music, starting with his analog synth world combined with the acoustic-played by fabulous musicians in his circle.

It is such an exciting genre-wide band he presents here with HEKS; two experienced, progressive jazzists together with the wonderful violinist Sara Ovinge. She won spellemannspris this year for her debut album Patientia, where she played Kjetil's First Violin Concerto. At the concert we get to hear something from this one too, then in a band version with the whole quartet.
