This is the eighth episode of Csaba Palotaï's musical adventures, released by BMC Records as a result of a nearly 25-year working relationship: after his first band, Grupa Palotaï, the guitarist has also recorded albums in a quintet, duo, and trio.

The international acclaim for his 2016 album The Deserter has not subsided since, and one of the tracks on the follow-up record Antiquity stayed at the top of streaming platforms for a long time as the most played track in the label's history.

Soulbread is a fitting continuation, showcasing Palotaï's high level of technical skill, his compositional talent, and his profound yet accessible artistic world. The songs carry traces of contemporary jazz, psychedelic rock, and folk, and offer lyrical, soul-lifting melodies. The solo album’s full sound is obtained with the help of special instrumental techniques, and also effects, which Palotaï, true to his handcrafting approach, creates without a computer, using analogue electronic devices.

"I don't realize at all what has changed in my playing, but it's clear that over the years, the countless encounters with friends and music have accumulated in layers and nourished me. And so this new album is called Soulbread. During his solitary explorations, the best thing a musician can hope for – far beyond technical prowess – is to nourish what we call the 'soul'."
