Cory Weeds has been in my corner from day one and I am so grateful to be releasing my second quartet album on his label. Our shared reverence for the legacy of this art form and passion for the incredible wealth of music bestowed upon us has sparked both a great friendship and business relationship. We simply felt it was the right time to go into the studio and get something recorded. Naturally I tried to get the absolute best musicians I could, and I achieved that goal. I’m very proud of the relationships I’ve developed with each of the players who made me sound good on this one too, as well as having Cory’s guidance and support. In addition, we were able to record at the Mecca of recording studios, Rudy Van Gelder’s which provided an incredible sound quality to my music. The music on this album is a combination of my originals, standards and combinations of both. The tunes here are ones I’ve been working on for sometime and also playing regularly at my quartet performances. The idea was for us to head into the studio with material we could lay down in just one or two takes, and we did just that. Essentially this project captures what I’ve been playing at this time and provides a window into what you might hear from me at a live gig. I hope you enjoy the playing, we had a great time making this one!
