Renowned Danish saxophonist Niels Vincentz and his trio set out in open terrain on Gravity, their second recording for SteepleChase.
Inspired by the great "pianoless" jazz groups (Gerry Mulligan, Sonny Rollins, Steve Lacy, Ornette Coleman), Vincentz is joined in his venture by two top drawer musicians - bassist Cameron Brown and drummer Billy Hart.
Hardbop is the part of jazz that grew big and strong up through the 1950s. It is jazz with body, soul and power. But above all it is jazz that - when it reaches the highest notes - will bring out the great joy and a strong desire in the musicians as well as the audience. This ensemble masters the expression, and there is rock-solid guarantee that the intuitive and ultra-dynamic drummer Billy Hart, will keep the pot boiling from the first beat to the last.
