It’s a narrative of a particular feeling of absence that’s haunting me; perhaps best described as the longing for a childhood emotion, a feeling of unconscious wonder, a state of simply being without an essence or perhaps like a memory continuously receding whenever I try recalling it, seemingly closest and most present at a certain distance, with a certain absence."

Danish ambient /drone /electro-acoustic /electronic collage artist and musician Paw Grabowski, aka øjeRum releases “Nattens Hvide Sten” via Slow Tone Collages.

Using as sole sound source an antique German made Mannborg Harmonium, øjeRum skillfully crafted long drony melodic pieces filled with a sense of longing, of fading memories. Located in an old house in the Danish country side, in a room mostly left unused and only heated for special occasions, the harmonium has been affected by the dampness of its environment, causing it to slowly deteriorate and giving it a very unique sound and character.

The first volume of ‘Selected Percussive Tracks…’ begins to collect some of the myriad material Paw Grabowski aka øjeRum has created over the last 25 years. Known primarily as a collage artists and practitioner of some of the most lauded and admired ambient music being created today. With ‘Selected Percussive Tracks…’ the velveteen warmth often associated with Paw’s music is still there but as was seen on his first Opal release ‘Through The Archway Of Mouths’ minimal, rhythmic features start to become the force of momentum in a music which often feels endless and gaussian.
