B.B. King is not only a timeless singer and guitarist, he's also a natural-born entertainer, and on Live at the Regal the listener is treated to an exhibition of all three of his talents. Over percolating horn hits and rolling shuffles, King treats an enthusiastic audience (at some points, they shriek after he delivers each line) to a collection of some of his greatest hits. The backing band is razor-sharp, picking up the leader's cues with almost telepathic accuracy. King's voice is rarely in this fine of form, shifting effortlessly between his falsetto and his regular range, hitting the microphone hard for gritty emphasis and backing off in moments of almost intimate tenderness.

"The Rod Stewart Album" was Rod Stewart's debut album, originally released in the US and later in the UK under the title "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down". The album made it onto the US Billboard 200 chart and features singles "Street Fighting Man", "Dirty Old Town" and "Handbags and Gladrags".

Rod Stewart first embraced his appeal to the middle of the road way back in 2002 when he recorded It Had to Be You, the first in a series of explorations of the Great American Songbook. Given those albums, it's no great surprise to hear Stewart sing with an orchestra on You're in My Heart: Rod Stewart with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. What is a surprise is that he's hopped upon the orchestral overdub bandwagon, letting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra glop on strings and horns over original vocal tracks for such hits as "Maggie May." Clever guy that he is, Stewart contributes a couple of ringers – including a duet with Robbie Williams on "It Takes It Two" – but those only wind up illustrating how stilted and stiff the overdubs are.

B.B. King's 1969 album "Completely Well" contains one of his biggest hits, a signature song of his career and his first Grammy winner, The Thrill Is Gone. The album, called "adventurous" by Rolling Stone, was produced by a young Bill Szymczyk, who would go on to produce six albums for the Eagles including Hotel California.

Sony Music's "Essential" series of limited-edition two-disc compilations of major artists has been well-assembled generally, and Ozzy Osbourne's increased celebrity following the success of the "reality" TV series The Osbournes justifies his inclusion, as does his string of multi-platinum albums dating back to 1980. The 29-track collection presents most of the highlights of his solo career, from Blizzard of Ozz to Down to Earth, including such U.K. and/or U.S. hits as "Bark at the Moon," "No More Tears," "Perry Mason," and "Mama, I'm Coming Home," as well as the Grammy-winning live version of "I Don't Want to Change the World." Missing from the song list are such favorites as "Shot in the Dark," a Top 20 U.K. hit that made the Top Ten of Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart, and "Back on Earth," another major Mainstream Rock hit; both tracks can be found on the 1997 hits collection The Ozzman Cometh.

The Essential Van Morrison is a two-disc compilation album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released on August 28, 2015. It is part of Sony BMG's Essential series of compilation albums and includes tracks from Morrison's solo output, as well as tracks from his days with Them. The tracks consist of some of Morrison's biggest hits and popular album tracks from 1964 as leader of the Northern Irish band Them through his 2009 release Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl. The liner notes were contributed by David Fricke.

The Yardbirds' second American album, and a fundamental one at that. Although the original version includes four of the ten tracks already featured on Five Live Yardbirds, released less than a year earlier in Great Britain, it confirms the talent of the two guitar monsters, Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, which had been sketched out on the previous compilation album, For Your Love, and was to be decisive in the musicians' continued notoriety across the Atlantic.
