It took Blue Note 15 years to release this 1965 session from Wayne Shorter, his fifth album for the label. The critical consensus of the day agreed the album was well worth waiting for, however. Featuring Herbie Hancock on piano, Joe Chambers on drums and Cecil McBee on bass, the album is another showcase for Shorter's songwriting talent with four originals and a cover of the Gil Evans song "Barracudas".

The outing is the first recording session between Hutcherson and saxophonist Harold Land. It features all Hutcherson originals and Chick Corea’s “Matrix”. This stellar album also features Joe Chambers, Reggie Johnson and Chick Corea.

Ever since Joe Chambers made his recording debut on Freddie Hubbard's classic LP, "Breaking Point" he's remained a nearly peerless jazz figure in terms of consummate musicianship. His career throughout the 1960s established Chambers as both a noteworthy hard-bop and avant-garde jazz drummer and as an intriguing composer, particularly through his partnership with vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson. Chambers released his debut LP, "The Almoravid" in 1974 for Muse Records. After recording several other releases for the Denon, Candid and Blue Note labels. On "Landscapes" reflects all of his well-honed talents as superb multi-instrumentalist, composer and bandleader.

Chambers' latest release, Urban Groove, is about as good as it gets. An energizing set of standards and originals performed with the likes of Eric Reed, Gary Bartz, and Rufus Reid, Chambers is in top form, showing off his amazing technique not only on drums, but also vibes and marimba. Still, Chambers is careful not to pull too much attention away from his sidemen. Gary Bartz is electrifying throughout, and Eric Reed shines on piano.

"Mode For Joe" is the influential saxophonist’s 1966 gem. It was his final Blue Note studio recording as a bandleader. Henderson is joined by trumpeter Lee Morgan, trombonist Curtis Fuller, vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, pianist Cedar Walton, double bassist Ron Carter and drummer Joe Chambers. The challenging repertoire showcases the unmatched talents of the ensemble. It features the standouts “Mode For Joe” and “Caribbean Fire Dance”.

Considered by many fans and critics alike to be Wayne Shorter finest album, "The All Seeing Eye" is a fabulous spiritual study which could be building blocks for his future projects such as Weather Report. Originally released in 1965 and continues to be revered and praised "The All Seeing Eye" featured an incredible line up of young talent that would turn into legends of the jazz scene. The title track and "Genesis" being standouts from the session; but also the album features Wayne Shorter's brother Alan on flugelhorn on the phenomenal final track "Mephistopheles". The piece was also written by Alan. "The All Seeing Eye" was another of a large selection of albums Shorter would record in a short and highly prolific time period.

Recorded and released in 1964, "Breaking Point" from Freddie Hubbard is considered one of the essential jazz albums of the era. Joined on the front line by James Spaulding on alto saxophone and flute, Hubbard's rhythm section is equally impressive: Ronnie Mathews on piano, bassist Eddie Khan and drummer Joe Chambers, who also contributes one song to this set of Hubbard originals.

"Schizophrenia" is the eleventh studio classic by Wayne Shorter. The recording highlights the rich contrast of traditional ideas with adventurous exploration. Recorded in 1967 and released in May 1969 by Blue Note, this star-studded affair features Curtis Fuller, James Spaulding, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Joe Chambers. The sextet, in peak form, performs five stunning originals and an arrangement of Spaulding’s “Kryptonite.” Standouts include “Tom Thumb” and “Miyako”.

On "Adam’s Apple", Wayne Shorter leads an all-star rhythm section, which features drummer Joe Chambers, pianist Herbie Hancock and bassist Reggie Workman. This 1966 session finds Shorter at the peak of his career, with his saxophone soaring from start to finish. The album showcases one of his best known compositions, “Footprints”. Other standouts include “El Gaucho” and the title-track. The album remains one of music’s greatest masterpieces.
