    Engineering Fluid Mechanics

Engineering Fluid Mechanics by H. Yamaguchi
    English | PDF | 2008 | 585 Pages | ISBN : 1402067410 | 15.6 MB

This book is intended for advanced engineering students in university or college and could serve as a reference for practical engineers. In recent years the development of fluid machineries has required a wider range of study in order to achieve a new level of developmental and conceptual progress. The field of fluid engineering is quite diverse in the sense that so many variations of flow exist in fluid machinery or an installation, whose characteristics are wholly dependent upon the flow field which is det- mined by the function of the machine setting itself. One who is studying fluid engineering, for the purpose of gaining a working knowledge of fluid machineries and their relevant installations, must understand not only the type of fluids used in practice, but also the fundamental flow problems - sociated with actual fluid machineries. Hence, the intended purpose of this book is to provide the fundamental and physical aspects of fluid mechanics and to develop engineering practice for fluid machineries. The subject of fluid engineering is most often approached at the senior undergraduate or postgraduate level of study. At this stage, the student or practical engineer is assumed to already have a basic mathematical ba- ground of vector and tensor analysis with a fair understanding of elem- tary fluid mechanics, such as Bernoulli equation, potential flow, and Poiseuille flow.

Modern Ferrite Technology, Second Edition by Alex Goldman
    English | PDF | 2006 | 446 Pages | ISBN : 0387281517 | 27.1 MB

For the past seventy years, ferrites (magnetic ceramics) have been prized for a range of properties that has no equivalent in the existing metal magnetic materials. They have contributed to many important advances in electronics and new high-performance products are appearing all the time. Ferrite technology has produced greater progress in the past 15 years since the first edition was published. Many of the semiconductor and IC technology responsible for the computer and Internet explosion would not have been possible without the magnetic materials technology needed for powering and otherwise exploiting those developments.

Modern Aspects of Spin Physics by Walter Pötz, Ulrich Hohenester, Jaroslav Fabian
    English | PDF | 2007 | 140 Pages | ISBN : 3540385908 | 3.1 MB

The spin degree of freedom is an intrinsically quantum-mechanical phenomenon, leading to both intriguing applications (such as quantum information storage and processing) and unsolved fundamental issues (such as "where does the proton spin come from"). The present volume investigates central aspects of modern spin physics in the form of extensive lectures on semiconductor spintronics, the spin-pairing mechanism in high- temperature semiconductors, spin in quantum field theory and the nucleon spin.

Physics of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials by K. H. J. Buschow , F. R. Boer
    English | PDF | 2003 | 175 Pages | ISBN : 0306474212 | 15.5 MB

In this book, the fundamentals of magnetism are treated, starting at an introductory level. The origin of magnetic moments, the response to an applied magnetic field, and the various interactions giving rise to different types of magnetic ordering in solids are presented and many examples are given. Crystalline-electric-field effects are treated at a level that is sufficient to provide the basic knowledge necessary in understanding the properties of materials in which these effects play a role. Itinerant-electron magnetism is presented on a similar basis. Particular attention has been given to magnetocrystalline magnetic anisotropy and the magnetocaloric effect. Also, the usual techniques for magnetic measurements are presented. About half of the book is devoted to magnetic materials and the properties that make them suitable for numerous applications. The state of the art is presented of permanent magnets, high-density recording materials, soft-magnetic materials, Invar alloys and magnetostrictive materials. Many references are given.

Magnetoelastic Vibrations and Stability of Magnetically Active Plates and Shells

Magnetoelastic Vibrations and Stability of Magnetically Active Plates and Shells by Gevorg Y. Baghdasaryan , Marine A. Mikilyan
    English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 284 Pages | ISBN : 3031603060 | 28.9 MB

This book introduces the reader to methods of mathematical modeling and solving non-stationary (dynamic) problems of the theory of magnetoelasticity, as well as to give an idea of the wealth of physical effects caused by the interaction of electromagnetic and mechanical phenomena in magnetically active elastic thin bodies. The studies are mainly limited to a model of isotropic body under the assumption of small deformations. In the first chapter of the book, based on the basic connected nonlinear equations and relations of mechanics and quasi-static electrodynamics of continuum media, a system of equations of magnetoelasticity, surface conditions, and governing equations describing the behavior of disturbances in a magnetoactive medium interacting with an external magnetic field is obtained. On this basis, in Chapters 2 and 3, using the main equations and relations of magnetoelastic vibrations and stability of magnetically soft, thin plates and shells are obtained. By solving specific applied problems, a number of qualitative and quantitative results were identified, caused by the interaction of mechanical and magnetic phenomena in ferromagnetic thin bodies. An approximate formula is obtained to determine magnetohydrodynamic pressure on the oscillating surfaces of plate flowing by supersonic flow of perfectly conducting gas in the presence of magnetic field. This formula is the generalization of well-known formula obtained on the basis of the classical piston theory of gas dynamics in the case of magneto-gas-dynamic flow. On this basis, it became possible to solve complex problems of aeromagnetoelasticity. In the 4th and 5th chapters magnetoelastic processes in superconducting thin shells located in stationary and non-stationary magnetic fields are studied.

Electric-Field Control of Magnetization and Electronic Transport in Ferromagnetic/Ferroelectric Heterostructures (Repost)

Electric-Field Control of Magnetization and Electronic Transport in Ferromagnetic/Ferroelectric Heterostructures by Sen Zhang
    English | PDF (True) | 2014 | 143 Pages | ISBN : 3642548385 | 8.8 MB

This book mainly focuses on the investigation of the electric-field control of magnetism and spin-dependent transportation based on a Co40Fe40B20(CoFeB)/Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)0.7Ti0.3O3(PMN-PT) multiferroic heterostructure. Methods of characterization and analysis of the multiferroic properties with in situ electric fields are induced to detect the direct magnetoelectric (ME) coupling. A switchable and non-volatile electric field control of magnetization in CoFeB/PMN-PT(001) structures is observed at room temperature, and the mechanism of direct coupling between the ferroelectric domain and ferromagnetic film due to the combined action of 109° ferroelastic domain switching in PMN-PT and the absence of magnetocrystalline anisotropy in CoFeB is demonstrated. Moreover, the electric-field control of giant magnetoresistance is achieved in a CoFeB-based spin valve deposited on top of (011) oriented PMN-PT, which offers an avenue for implementing electric-writing and magnetic-reading random access memory at room temperature. Readers will learn the basic properties of multiferroic materials, many useful techniques related to characterizing multiferroics and the interesting ME effect in CoFeB/PMN-PT structures, which is significant for applications.
