Bruce Springsteen Among rock music's most iconic figures, Bruce Springsteen often feels like the one who loves and believes in rock & roll the most, eager to re-create the breathless emotions it brings out in him. Embracing the pleasures of the sounds of AM radio in the 1950s and '60s (garage rock, British Invasion, R&B, blue-eyed soul, emotional teen pop) with the literacy of the singer/songwriter movement and a fierce desire to document the lives of the blue-collar world in which he grew up, Springsteen's music was always a grand, ambitious amalgam. (He once said he dreamed of making an album with words like Bob Dylan, sounding like Phil Spector, and with vocals like Roy Orbison.) His sound found full flower on 1973's eclectic The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle (which introduced his most important backing group, the E Street Band), and he rose to stardom with 1975's streetwise, sweeping Born to Run. 1978's Darkness on the Edge of Town and 1980's The River marked a thematic shift, as his songs addressed the malaise of the working class, whose dreams had begun slipping out of reach.

'Tracks II: The Lost Albums' are seven unheard Bruce Springsteen records made between 1983-2018. Featuring 82 previously unreleased songs, 'The Lost Albums' fill in chapters of Springsteen's expansive career timeline, while offering invaluable insight into his life and work as an artist.

After skipping January 2026 for reasons that were neither announced nor explained, the nugs.net "First Friday" Live Archives series returned yesterday with another great show from the 1995-1997 solo-acoustic tour supporting The Ghost of Tom Joad. It's Capitol Theatre, Sydney, AUS, 2/12/1997. This was the only show on that tour, or on any other Springsteen tour, in which Bruce performed both his own song "The Ghost of Tom Joad" and Woody Guthrie's song "Tom Joad." (There was, however, another public event in which Springsteen performed both songs in the same set: during his acceptance of the 2021 Woody Guthrie Prize, presented to him in his home-studio in a ceremony live-streamed on May 13, 2021).

Reissued as a 50th Anniversary Japan Edition of the Rock classic set, the 3-disc set will offer the original album, newly mixed in DSD from original 24-track analog tapes on a hybrid SACD. The remaining two CDs will be home to a full live concert from Springsteen‘s December 12, 1975 show at the Post Dome located at CW Post College in Greenvale, NY. (This show has been previously released).

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Tower Theater, Philadelphia, PA, December 31, 1975 By Erik Flannigan As we enter 2026, who could have imagined the Bruce Springsteen Live Archive series would be entering its twelfth year? The first show in the series, Apollo Theater, March 9, 2012, was released in November 2014; remarkably, 100 more have followed, expanding Springsteen's live recording canon into territory once exclusive to the Grateful Dead. Tours from 1975 on are represented in that 100, with many covered in depth. Frustratingly to all, a few gaps remain, limited by technical challenges (#freetherisingtour) and tape availability. But the Archive series is open-ended: new sources and playback breakthroughs remain ever possible..

Even for a tour marked by eclectic setlists, Vancouver 2005 stands out for the breadth and intrigue of its 26-song set. Springsteen opens this riveting solo evening with "Living Proof" performed on pump organ. From there, he continues to challenge himself dropping rarity after rarity including the Devils & Dust tour's only inclusion of "Because The Night" on electric piano; a falsetto-led, atmospheric reading of "State Trooper"; piano takes of "The Promise" and "Real World"; welcome airings for "Ain't Got You," "Cynthia" and "Janey, Don't You Lose Heart"; plus his last performance to date of "Paradise."

Orlando 2008 joins Tampa 2008 as the second half of a two-show celebration of life for founding E Street Band member Danny Federici who passed away six days prior. This cathartic, 25-song set mixes core tracks from Magic with three from Bruce's debut album ("Spirit in the Night," "Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street?" and "Lost in the Flood") and features a special guest appearance by The Byrds' Roger McGuinn who leads emotional readings of "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "Mr. Tambourine Man" in the encore. Rarer still, the show opens with the only performance ever of the rock version of "Blood Brothers."

A rare stop in Omaha prompts Springsteen to include six songs from Nebraska in this 26-song set from the Wrecking Ball tour. The show opens with a rollicking "Reason To Believe," a horn-driven "Johnny 99" and a potent "Atlantic City." Rarer still is a solo electric take of "State Trooper" (in the song's last performance to date) and the only band arrangement of "Highway Patrolman" since 1985. Sign requests include "Sherry Darling," "Lost In The Flood," "Trapped" and the season's first "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" in the encore.

By Erik Flannigan: After touring solo for Devils & Dust in 2005 and stomping across stages with the Seeger Sessions Band in 2006, Bruce Springsteen’s 2007 tour with the E Street Band was a welcome return to regularly scheduled programming. The trek was appealingly normal, in that it was simply a run of shows in support of Bruce and the band’s excellent new album Magic, released in late September. The result was more akin to outings behind Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978) and The River (1980) because that’s what artists did/do when they drop a new album. No bigger occasion or overarching circumstances. No multi-night residencies. Just straight up doing the job. One might think the same for 2012 with the release of Wrecking Ball, but that marked an expansion of the E Street Band to add horns and singers, making it again something different.

Reach Up And Touch The Sky Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Brendan Byrne Arena, E. Rutherford, NJ, July 6, 1981 By Erik Flannigan Bruce Springsteen began headlining arenas in the northeast as far back as October 1976 when he gigged two nights at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. He returned there for four concerts on the Darkness tour, and hit Madison Square Garden and Nassau Coliseum, too, then yet again in late 1980 on the River tour along with various regional Gardens and Civic Centers. However, Springsteen wouldn’t play an arena show in his home state of New Jersey until July 1981 because, until then it didn’t have one. When the Brendan Byrne Arena opened in E. Rutherford, Bruce and the E Street Band christened the future home of the Nets and Devils with a sold-out, six-show stand.

I’ve Tried So Hard, So Hard In Every Way By Erik Flannigan The 2012-2013 Wrecking Ball tour marked the start of the current incarnation of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. It was the first without late, great founding members Danny Federici and Clarence Clemons, and the tour served in part as a eulogy to those fallen heroes. The passing of Phantom Dan and the Big Man also triggered major changes on stage: Wrecking Ball featured an exponential expansion of the ESB, ushering in a horn section, backing singers, and a percussionist—a blueprint still in use when Springsteen returned to the road in 2023 and retained through the last concert in Milan this past July.
