Joseph Tawadros's 'Conversations with Jack' is a miraculous final testament from Jack DeJohnette.

Gnu High is an album by Canadian trumpeter and composer Kenny Wheeler recorded in June 1975 and released on ECM the following year. The quartet features rhythm section Keith Jarrett, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette.

With “daring and visionary spirit”, to quote a Downbeat review from the year of this album’s release, master improvisers John Abercrombie, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette forged a unique vision of trio interplay on their first joint effort under the Gateway moniker.

Life of a Song is Geri Allen's first recording under her own name in six long years. She teams with the rhythm section of bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette, whom she worked with on the late Betty Carter's stellar live date Feed the Fire in 1993. Allen composed eight of the album's 11 cuts, and the covers include Bud Powell's "Dance of the Infidels," Billy Strayhorn's "Lush Life," and Mal Waldron's "Soul Eyes." This last selection is augmented by the participation of Marcus Belgrave on flugelhorn, saxophonist Dwight Andrews, and trombonist Clifton Anderson.

"Higher Ground" is an album by jazz organist Johnny Hammond recorded for the Kudu label. The Allmusic site stating "Some of the arrangements seem, well arranged, but as soon as Smith kicks in, the groove is established". The song "Big Sur Suite" has been sampled multiple times including The Beastie Boys "Pass the Mic" and Dr. Dre in "A Nigga Wit a Gun".

John Abercrombie's debut as leader has lived up to its title: the album is a collection of TIMELESS music, a fiery session with Jan Hammer on keyboards and drummer Jack DeJohnette that sounds as fresh on this reissue as when it was first released in 1975.

Jack Johnson, later reissued as A Tribute to Jack Johnson, is a 1971 studio album and soundtrack by American jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader Miles Davis. In 1970, Davis was asked by boxing promoter Bill Cayton to record music for a documentary he was producing, on the life of boxer Jack Johnson. Johnson's saga resonated personally with the musician, who wrote in the album's liner notes of Johnson's mastery as a boxer, his affinity for fast cars, jazz, clothes, and beautiful women, his unreconstructed blackness, and his threatening image to white men. This was the second film score Davis had composed, after Ascenseur pour l'échafaud in 1957.

"Changes" is a jazz album released by Keith Jarrett, Jack DeJohnette and Gary Peacock in 1984. This group subsequently became known as the "Standards Trio". The album features improvised compositions recorded at the same sessions as the two volumes released as "Standards".

On the Corner is a studio album by jazz musician Miles Davis, recorded in June and July 1972 and released in 1974 on Columbia Records. Drawing on funk and rock music, the work of experimental composer Karlheinz Stockhausen, and electronic recording techniques, it was in part an attempt by Davis to reach a younger African American audience. Instead, it became one of his worst-selling recordings and was scorned by establishment jazz critics at the time of its release. It was also his last studio album of the 1970s; for the remainder of the decade he recorded haphazardly and focused instead on live performance before temporarily retiring from music in 1975.

Saxophonist Charles Lloyd is a forward-thinking musician's musician whose supreme improvisational talents and interest in cross-pollinating jazz with rock as well as non-Western styles of music during the '60s and '70s established him as one of the key figures in the development of fusion and world music.

On the Corner is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis. It was recorded in June and July 1972 and originally released on October 11 of the same year by Columbia Records. The album continued Davis's exploration of jazz fusion, and explicitly drew on the influence of funk musicians Sly Stone and James Brown, the experimental music of Karlheinz Stockhausen, ideas by composer Paul Buckmaster, and the free jazz of Ornette Coleman.

Bassist Gary Peacock's 1982 album "Voice From The Past - Paradigm", called "landmark" by All About Jazz, draws inspiration from the energetic music Peacock was playing in New York City in the early 1960s.
