The Yardbirds are an English rock band, formed in London in 1963. The band's core lineup featured vocalist and harmonica player Keith Relf, drummer Jim McCarty, rhythm guitarist/bassist Chris Dreja and bassist/producer Paul Samwell-Smith. The band is known for starting the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck, all of whom ranked in the top five of Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 greatest guitarists.The band had a string of hits throughout the mid-1960s, including "For Your Love", "Heart Full of Soul", "Shapes of Things" and "Over Under Sideways Down".

The blu-ray was previously only available as part of the excellent, but expensive, super deluxe edition of Who's Next, which was released just over a year ago. It features Steven Wilson remixes of Who's Next and 14 bonus tracks. Those bonus tracks are of the highest quality and include unedited versions of singles such as 'The Seeker', 'Let's See Action' and 'Join Together' Wilson has created Dolby Atmos Mixes, dedicated 5.1 mixes and new stereo mixes of all 23 tracks on the blu-ray with the exception of 'Bargain' for which the multi-tracks unfortunately could not be found (a Penteo 'upmix' was created for that track for the spatial/surround mixes). The SDE blu-ray exclusively features Steven Wilson instrumental mixes of the album and all the bonus tracks (except 'Bargain' for the reasons stated above). These instrumentals do not features on the blu-ray in the box set.

If you're a died-in-the-tie-dye fan, you've probably already heard a tape of this show and will be pleased to know that here it sounds amazing; the entire three hour performance is included, mixed and mastered off of original 16-track live master recordings. If you're not already a Deadhead, Live at the Cow Palace: New Years Eve 1976 is an excellent encapsulation of mid '70s Dead. Recorded in-between 1975's invigorating Blues for Allah and 1977's dreadfully myopic Terrapin Station, it's eminently preferable to the live album Steal Yr Face, and goes a long way towards showing that the critically-maligned Godchaux era had a lot going for it. A few of the songs lumber a bit, but there's a real funkiness and versatility to this segment of the band's career that they never really had at any other time. Several stages of the band's career converge, such that the elastically funky version of the late '70s Dead, the almost jazz-fusion Dead of the early '70s, and the soft cowboy folk sound of 1970 of are all here. The box set chronicles Dylan’s legendary 1974 tour with The Band, a pivotal moment that saw them performing for their largest crowds to date. With a variety of full show performances available to cull from in the compiling of Before The Flood it was natural that some songs, no matter how compelling and powerful, would not fit on the original 2xLP release in 1974. Pressed at Third Man Pressing in Detroit on three charming green LPs, this configuration is the only vinyl release of any of the archived 1974 live recordings. As an added bonus, Third Man has designed a classic 1970’s-styled souvenir tour book. Comprising photos taken during this momentous tour and of-the-era graphics and archival material, this 8.5 x 11 inch, 20 page book is the perfect visual accompaniment to the moving, powerful audio it is paired with. To top it all off, included here is a 7-inch single featuring the inimitable “Blowin' In The Wind” as originally included on Before The Flood backed with an incendiary take of “Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I’ll Go Mine)” recorded at Madison Square Garden on January 30th, 1974.

The inaugural release in the Columbia/Legacy 2011 Billy Joel reissue series, The Hits is the first-ever U.S. single-disc overview of the piano man’s full career. Even his first compilation, 1986’s Greatest Hits, Vols. 1-2, was a double-LP set and so was 2001's The Essential, so just having a 19-track summation of Joel’s career is useful, but fortunately, The Hits accomplishes its job well.

It was pretty clear that Billy Joel had run out of steam by 1993's River of Dreams. He had shown signs of wearing on its predecessor, Storm Front, but his trademark melodic gift disappeared on River of Dreams and his words, even performances, were bone-tired – he even called the last song "The Last Song (No More Words)." So, it was no great surprise that he did not rush to record a follow-up, and when he started murmuring toward the end of the decade that perhaps he wasn't interested in pop music anymore, nobody who paid attention could have been surprised.

Sebastian Zawadzki (born 14 October 1991) is a Polish-born jazz pianist, composer and film composer living in Copenhagen who has been releasing albums since 2014 as well as composing and arranging music for a wide array of media including TV and films. In his works he incorporates elements of classical, electronic and jazz music. Viridian is a collection of melodious improvised solo piano pieces, recorded in Tall Pine Records in Kolbudy, Poland.

'Miss du Pré allows herself to muse as Elgar's music itself muses, but she never for a moment overdoes indulgence and each movement has its own strength and coherence. This is on no account to be missed.
