30 years ago Red Hot was riding high. Our first three albums: Red Hot + Blue, Red Hot + Dance and No Alternative became successful beyond our wildest dreams. We raised enough money to donate millions to important organizations around the world fighting AIDS, including a million to ACT UP. And we worked with some of the greatest artists and musicians in the world: David Byrne, U2, George Michael, Nirvana, Madonna and many others. Next up was two new albums - one focused on communities of color, Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool, and the other on country music.

Jeremiah Fraites, co-founder and songwriter of the two-time Grammy Award-nominated band the Lumineers, has composed the score for Lionsgate’s “The Long Walk,” the upcoming film from director Francis Lawrence based on the first novel by Stephen King. The film will be released in theaters nationwide on Sept. 12. “The Long Walk” is billed as an intense, chilling and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go?

Jason Molina was an artist who didn’t like to look back. Throughout the singer-songwriter’s life and career, a restless and evolving creative pulse propelled him forward, training his focus on what was next. His unyielding creativity and work ethic bore sacred fruit. In his short life, Molina achieved what most musicians strive for: a sound that is instantly recognizable but rarely repeats itself.

The Finnish pianist, composer, and piano teacher Ilmari Hannikainen (1892 - 1955) wrote over one hundred solo songs. As a child, he accompanied his mother, the singer Alfhild "Alli" Hannikainen (1967 - 1949), on the piano. His own songs bear dedications to her and to many other well-known Finnish singers of the time, some of whom he also performed with. As late as the 1950s, he recorded several songs for Finnish Radio, but unfortunately, only a few of the recordings have survived.

Over the past century or so, composers have tended to see themselves as either traditionalists or modernists. The music of Joel Feigin (born in New York in 1951) bridges both worlds, combining the resources of tonality and atonality with equal relish, naturally extending the styles of the recent past. Its freewheeling energy is often tempered by an elegant restraint, sometimes revealing the warm, humanist impulse behind his sound-world. This first volume of his piano and chamber music follows a lusty piano trio and a moving tribute to a much-missed teacher with four sets of variations, three by Feigin and one an arrangement of Bach, the composer who Feigin says is the root of all his music.

Perhaps best known for their hit single "Breakfast at Tiffany's" which reached the top 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and became a global hit in 1995, culminating with a U.K. #1 in 1996, the band's music encompasses a range of styles, from dream-pop to alternative rock, pop, and post-grunge. Formed in Denton, Texas in 1993, Deep Blue Something is composed of Todd Pipes (vocals and bass), his brother Toby Pipes (vocals and lead guitar), Kirk Tatom (guitar and backing vocals), Clay Bergus (guitar and backing vocals), and John Kirtland (drums). The band's debut album, 11th Song, was released in 1993 followed by Home in 1995, Byzantium in 1998 and Deep Blue Something in 2000. Each album showcases the band's songwriting and musicianship, earning them a devoted fanbase and critical acclaim.

Black Truffle is thrilled to present the first ever solo Donso n’goni recording from octogenarian Swedish multi-instrumentalist Christer Bothén. Active in the Swedish jazz and improvisation scene since the 1970s, often heard on bass clarinet, Bothén travelled to Mali in 1971, eventually making his way to the Wassoulou region in the country’s south where he encountered the Donso n’goni, the sacred harp of the hunter caste of Wassoulou society. Though playing the instrument has traditionally been restricted to those who belong to the hunters’ brotherhood, Bothén found an enthusiastic teacher in Brouema Dobia, who, after many months of intensive one-on-one lessons, gave Bothén his blessing to play the instrument both traditionally and in his own style. Returning to Sweden, he would go on to pass on what he had learned to Don Cherry and play the Donso n’goni in a wide variety of inventive settings, including the driving Afro-jazz-fusion of his Trancedance (reissued as BT118).
