Dixieland jazz is the music that captured Makoto Ozone's heart as a child and inspired him to pursue jazz. Even today, as a world-renowned pianist who has traveled extensively from jazz to classical music, the roots of Dixieland jazz remain close to his heart, and this special project, "Original Park Street Kids," traces the roots of that music. A live recording disc held at the long-established jazz club "Body & Soul" on Shibuya's Park Street is now available!
The front members are Yoshihiro Nakagawa, a leading trumpet player in the Dixieland jazz world, and Eijiro Nakagawa, a trombonist who grew up listening to his music. The special featured guest is clarinetist Eiji Kitamura, whom Ozone looks up to not only as a musician but also as a mentor in life. This is a live performance of real Dixieland jazz, not just nostalgia, but a live space filled with the beauty and happiness of music and life in the present.

Dance music by the New Orleans trombone master, Easy tempos and slinky blues phrasing. Marty Marsala gives it everything on trumpet. Just enough arranging to keep it interesting. Ory was there when New Orleans jazz started and this has his mark on every track.

Trumpeter Frankie Newton, whose mellow and thoughtful style sometimes seemed somewhat out of place in the swing era, had a relatively brief but artistically rewarding career. He had stints with Lloyd Scott (1927-1929), Cecil Scott (1929-1930), Chick Webb, Elmer Snowden, Charlie Johnson, and Sam Wooding, and appeared on Bessie Smith's final recording session in 1933.
