Jazz drummer Jimmy Cobb is perhaps most famous in his role as the backbone to Miles Davis's best albums, but the unstoppable Cobb is also an excellent band leader in his own right, as evidenced here.

James Travis Reeves was an American country and popular music singer-songwriter. With records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s, he became well known as a practitioner of the Nashville sound (a mixture of older country-style music with elements of popular music). He is a member of both the Country Music and Texas Country Music Halls of Fame. Known as "Gentleman Jim", his songs continued to chart for years after his death. Reeves died in 1964 in the crash of his private airplane. This posthumous RCA's album peaked at #1 at the U.S. Country charts.

The solo album of Toyohiko Satoh, the 72 year old Japanese lutenist who is considered my many as one of the most influential lute players of the last century, presents a well-known repertoire of baroque lute music. Mr. Satoh was the first lutenist to record Bach’s lute music on LP in the 70s (Phillips). Now he returns to this music 40 years later, delivering a completely different rendering of these iconic pieces. His playing has been influenced much by his studies of traditional Japanese arts such as tea ceremony, No-theater and Zen meditation. So here we are presented a recording that draws from the deep silence within, from the awareness of everything in the universe being connected, and from the understanding of Bach’s music as a universal, almost superhuman symbol of completeness.

During the shooting for the biographical documentary film about Allan Taylor's life and work Stockfisch had filmed a complete solo concert in Hoeilaart, Belgium. Although they had planned only to use a few clips, they decided to release this concert in nearly full length because Allan's solo performance is really impressive.

One of America’s greatest gospel groups, The Stars of Faith was founded in 1958 by five members of the legendary Clara Ward Singers. Faith performed at the Apollo Theater, Carnegie Hall, and Madison Square Garden. They performed and toured with famed poet Langston Hughes’ Broadway play Black Nativity, gave a command performance for the English Royal Family, and appeared in Berlin with the Reverend Martin Luther King in front of a crowd of 20,000. Recorded live during a three-month European tour in 1969 the album represents an apotheosis of Afro-American gospel.

Cal Tjader (July 16, 1925–May 5, 1982) was an American Latin jazz musician. Unlike other American jazz musicians who experimented with the music from Cuba, the Caribbean, and Latin America, he never abandoned it, performing it until his death.
