The flagship act for Fania Records, the Fania All-Stars popularized New York salsa during the 1970s by organizing concerts at larger and larger venues (from the Red Garter in Greenwich Village all the way to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx) that spotlighted not only the label's but the salsa world's biggest stars – Ray Barretto, Willie Colón, Johnny Pacheco, Rubén Blades, Hector Lavoe, Ismael Miranda, Cheo Feliciano, Bobby Cruz, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, and special guests like Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, and Eddie Palmieri.

Dot Allison returns with a new solo album, Consciousology. After over a decade away, the former One Dove singer and songwriter broke cover in 2021 with Heart-Shaped Scars and this new album follows just two years later, as she hits a purple patch of songwriting. It’s also her first full release for Sonic Cathedral after contributing to Mark Peters’ acclaimed Red Sunset Dreams last year.

Few listeners know much, if anything, about Zygmunt Noskowski (1846–1909), even though Szymanowski featured among his distinguished students and Moniuszko among his renowned teachers. And yet, for most of the 19th century, Noskowski was the primary exponent of modern symphonic music in Poland. As a conductor and concert organiser, he himself championed the causes of forgotten Polish composers. Now it's the turn of Antoni Wit, who succeeded Noskowski at the helm of the Warsaw Philharmonic 94 years after his retirement, to raise the profile of his late-romantic colleague, having similarly promoted the music of Zygmunt Stojowski on a previous Capriccio recording (C5464).

The output of Richard Flury (1896-1967), one of Switzerland’s most prolific composers, ranges from operas and ballets to symphonies, instrumental concertos, sacred and secular vocal works, chamber music and no fewer than 181 songs with piano accompaniment. These four song-cycles, written between 1920 and 1946, contain 45 of them, their concision nonetheless embracing an expansive, Romantic style of which Schumann himself might have approved. The prevailing mood is one of an open-hearted sincerity, occasionally enlivened by a dash of humour.

For his second ECM album, award-winning pianist Aaron Parks assembled a trio featuring bassist Ben Street and drummer Billy Hart. The rhythm pair, which also teams in Hart’s hit quartet for ECM, blends fluidity and strength, what Parks calls "an oceanic" quality, producing waves of energy for the pianist to alternately ride and dive into. Find The Way has the aura of a classic piano trio recording, from the melodic opener Adrift to the closing title track, a cover of a romantic tune Parks grew to love on an LP by Rosemary Clooney and Nelson Riddle. Placing a priority on space and subtlety, Parks also drew inspiration from the likes of Alice Coltrane and Shirley Horn, for whom Hart played.

"Tincian" is the second album by 9Bach, the group formed by Lisa Jen and Martin Hoyland. It's an atmospheric, emotional record that reflects their home environment of Gerlan, North Wales, and Tincian is the perfect description: it's an allusive Welsh word that travels through time and space.

Composer and pianist Henrik Lindstrand’s fourth album, ‘Klangland’, was a departure from his lauded solo piano trilogy and saw him utilising a stirring and dramatic string section to elevate his emotive, minimalist compositions. On ‘The Transformer Session’ he was joined by the Nordic string quartet Halvcirkel to record in a former Transformer Station outside of Copenhagen.

National Symphony Orchestra cellist Steven Honigberg and guests present a chamber concert of classical works by Xavier Montsalvatge, Germaine Tailleferre and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.
