In a 1991 interview, Garcia said, "So they used to have this Monday night jam session, but Howard gradually sort of took it over. Howard's this amazing organ player — difficult person, but wonderful musician. And for some reason he liked our playing, John [Kahn] and mine.

The third volume of Bare Bones collects 16 alternate duo arrangements of songs that were released on Garcia/Grisman, Not For Kids Only, Shady Grove, Been All Around This World and even Volume II of this series. Volume II of Bare Bones is comprised of the “original” duo versions of tunes that became staples of the Garcia/Grisman repertoire, all subsequently arranged for various group sessions. As Dawg states in the notes, “This collection illuminates our process of selecting and arranging the material. “The Sweet Sunny South”, released on Shady Grove as a banjo duet, was originally recorded with guitar and mandolin. Other tunes, like “The Crawdad Song” and “Moonlight Bay” were only tried once and never made it into our set lists.” This project is available in the sonically superior Hi-Definition (24-bit, 96 kHz) format.

"Dear Jerry: Celebrating The Music Of Jerry Garcia" was recorded live at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland in May 2015. This historic one-night event honoured Jerry Garcia, one of the most influential musicians and cultural icons of our time. Among the performers celebrating Garcia are Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, along with Eric Church, Jimmy Cliff, Peter Frampton, Jorma Kaukonen, Los Lobos, Grace Potter and several others.

This 1973 release features what is essentially a Bay Area bar band led by Merl Saunders (keyboards) and Jerry Garcia (guitar) during the latter musician's downtime from the Grateful Dead. Along with the two subsequent "encore" volumes, Live at Keystone includes performances drawn from the quartet's July 10-11, 1973, run in the intimate confines of Keystone Korners in Berkeley. With the support of Bill Vitt(percussion) and John Kahn (bass), the pair jams their way through an eclectic assortment of covers and a few equally inspired original instrumentals.

This new archival release features two complete performances with over 5 1/2 hours of previously unreleased music from September 5th, 1989 at the Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, CT and September 6th, 1989 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. Fall 1989: The Long Island Sound celebrates the storied East Coast 1989 run which featured acoustic duo Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman setting the stage for two nightly sets from the Jerry Garcia Band.

On October 13th, Round Records will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Cats Under The Stars with a pair of 180gram vinyl reissues of the classic album. Both editions are now available for pre-order here. Recorded and mixed in 1977 at the Grateful Dead’s Club Front, Cats Under The Stars represents Garcia’s 4th solo studio record and the only studio record presented as the Jerry Garcia Band. Garcia enlisted John Kahn, Ron Tutt as well as Keith & Donna Godchaux for the recordings with contributions from Merl Saunders and Maria Muldaur, among others. The album’s iconic cover art was created by Stanley Mouse who drew his inspiration from Egyptian iconography while the Grateful Dead were planning their landmark performances at the Great Pyramids of Giza.
