Debut solo album by the legendary purveyor of music that daringly blurred the boundary between psychedelic rock and raucous, riotous dadaism.

Freedom's first album after drummer/singer Bobby Harrison totally revamped the lineup was typical lumpy British hard rock circa 1969, with nothing in the way of interesting songwriting or instrumental innovation to grab one's attention. In a way, they made for an ideal support act for an emerging and insecure headliner; they weren't going to upstage anyone. Sometimes they would leave off the generic blues-flavored hard rock for poppier or folkier material with harmonies, but melody and originality were not present in abundance. And it's playing a losing game to record covers of the Beatles' "Cry Baby Cry" and the Zombies' "Time of the Season," both of which had just been released, in much better and more popular versions of course, by the original artists; the Howlin' Wolf covers don't do the master much credit, either.

The Rolling Stones are teasing their new album, Foreign Tongues, with a new single, “In the Stars.” That song, along with the bluesy “Rough and Twisted,” which they teased with a grassroots campaign billing themselves as the Cockroaches, lead off the 14-track LP. The album, due July 10, follows up 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, which was a Number Three hit in the U.S. and won the band a Grammy.

Grateful Dead So much more than just the archetypal jam band, the Grateful Dead grew to become an artistic and cultural institution that existed entirely on their own terms. While the band initially came out of a psychedelic revolution in the Bay Area's musically and chemically exploratory mid-'60s, they quickly evolved from their acid rock beginnings, incorporating elements of Americana and Bakersfield country into gently majestic albums like 1970's American Beauty. Their live shows were completely separate from their studio output, based on freeform improvisation borrowed from jazz and made up of extended performances and set list variations that ensured no two shows were exactly like. Though the band recorded only 13 studio albums between 1967 and 1989, an entire counterculture formed around their endless touring, and they even broke through to the mainstream with an unlikely radio hit in the MTV era.

The 3rd collaborative album between Les Claypool & Sean Lennon (the previous sold over 150,000 combined) is an elaborate concept record reflecting on morality, the warnings of A.I., and the slippery slope of optimization without empathy. Told across 14 songs - which ooze with classic psychedelic / progressive rock stylings - and the accompanying comic book by Rich Ragsdale, The Great Parrot-Ox and The Golden Egg of Empathy is a peak for both The Claypool-Lennon Delirium and rock music at large.

Throughout, the harmonies are green and lush, and the melodies are plucked out of some perfect pop songbook, and there’s baroque, jangle pop, sensational production, DIY rough-and-readiness and all-in-all, we find ourselves bathing in the whole thing, thrilled that they’ve blessed us with an invite into their universe.

Psychedelia, funk, jazz, blues, and rock didn’t just shape the 1960s and 1970s; they continue to change music today. Rose Peak is a perfect example, pulling its inspiration from many genres of music and drawing from decades of nostalgia.

Magic Castles are back with new album ‘Realized’, a set of lush psych-rock reveries from Minneapolis songwriter Jason Edmonds, blending late-60s folk-rock warmth with shoegaze shimmer. Newly signed to Fuzz Club, ‘Realized’ takes Magic Castles’ music to a newfound level of clarity, whilst still retaining that same, long-harboured analogue warmth only made possible through an array of vintage amps, guitars and transistor organs. Released April 24th 2026, ‘Realized’ consists of nine dreamlike, melody-led trips that unfold in waves. Equal parts hazy nostalgia and widescreen modern psychedelia, centring dreamy, heavily-layered arrangements and floating vocal harmonies.

Under the Moon is a collection of songs that tell the story of everything that's happened over the past five years – from the lockdown that changed the world to the moment we sat down to record the album in December 2024. In many ways, it feels like emerging from a long period of drifting under the moon and finally stepping into the light. Loss and change give us the opportunity for metamorphosis, a transformation that brings new perspectives and stories from the experiences that led us here.

Mountain played heavy Blues Rock, mainly influenced by the well-known band Cream. Woodstock was only their fourth gig but they played in front of 500,000 people. It was Saturday, August the 16th, 1969, the second day of Woodstock, and about 9:00 pm.

Founded in 1961 by George Kooymans and Rinus Gerritsen, Dutch rock band Golden Earring (or Golden Earrings, until 1969) started off as a beat band, experimented as a psychedelic quartet and finally became a heavy rock group. Their ninth album Moontan (1973) - including their classic track Radar Love - hit the international album charts and is the band's most successful album in the United States, being the only Golden Earring album to be certified Gold by the RIAA.

Dean Wilden and Tony Decker are Fargo. Their home is Salt Lake City, Utah. People who meet them or hear their music find that fact incongruous, for thinking of Salt Lake City brings to mind the Tabernacle with its mysteries and its majesty and the descendents of Brigham Young quietly living their lives by that oddly isolated sea in the heartland of America. Somehow it's hard to imagine young contemporary singers-composers at work against this backdrop.
