Life of a Song is Geri Allen's first recording under her own name in six long years. She teams with the rhythm section of bassist Dave Holland and drummer Jack DeJohnette, whom she worked with on the late Betty Carter's stellar live date Feed the Fire in 1993. Allen composed eight of the album's 11 cuts, and the covers include Bud Powell's "Dance of the Infidels," Billy Strayhorn's "Lush Life," and Mal Waldron's "Soul Eyes." This last selection is augmented by the participation of Marcus Belgrave on flugelhorn, saxophonist Dwight Andrews, and trombonist Clifton Anderson.

Big Big Train are an English progressive rock band formed in Bournemouth in 1990. "The Second Brightest Star" is the last album in a cycle of releases which started back in 2009 with "The Underfall Yard" album. The band writing over this period has focused on the English landscape, the people that work on the land and their folklore stories. The band will be moving on to different landscapes and subjects in future years as the band play more shows outside of England. But the band had a few more stories left to tell and wanted to bring them together on "The Second Brightest Star".

"Folklore" is the ninth studio album by the English progressive rock band Big Big Train. It was recorded at English Electric Studios, produced by Big Big Train, and mixed and mastered at Aubitt Studios by Rob Aubrey. It is the first studio album to feature Rachel Hall and then-Beardfish lead vocalist Rikard Sjöblom as official members. Reviews were largely positive for this release, the ProgReport saying "from the first listen is so breathtaking and magnificent, that more listens are welcomed". Concluding with "All in all, this is a sprawling collection of brilliantly told stories with even more impressive music".

Finnish Metal band Ice Exiled have released music video for a rendition of a cut titled “Anthropocentrum (Set Me Free)” that will not be the version that appears on their album “Reset The Sky” when 29th November rolls around.
