Common Primitives is the second collaborative album between Andy Bell (Ride guitarist, Oasis bassist) and Essex-based harp and synth duo Masal. It’s a stunning, meditative collection which veers from kosmische to astral jazz by way of Turkish folk tunes and all the way back again.

In East Germany in the early 1970’s Martin Zeichnete worked as a sound editor for DEFA, (Deutsche Film-Aktiengesellschaft), the state-owned film studio. Like many young East Germans of the time he would listen furtively to West German radio at night and became infatuated with the Kosmische Musik or ‘Krautrock’ epitomised by the likes of Kraftwerk, Neu! and Cluster emerging from his neighbouring country. Martin, a keen runner, hit upon the idea of using the repetitive, motorik beats of this new music as a training aid for athletes. He thought it could benefit the mind as well as the body with the pulsing, hypnotic music bringing focus. A ‘borrowed’ prototype of Andreas Pavel’s Stereobelt showed Martin the technology to provide music on the move already existed and could easily be adapted for runners.

Flight is built on groove and atmosphere. Grounded bass and percussion anchor the rhythm while melodic guitar, analogue synth textures and a dynamic brass section shape the mood. Across eleven tracks, repetition and feel drive the record forward. A recurring synth presence ties it together, shifting from understated warmth to dense, immersive swells, with horns moving between subtle color and driving force.

The Intermittent Signal is the sound of resistance. In the year since The Sick Man Of Europe’s debut album was released, the world has moved on. Steady hands have slipped from the levers of power, logic has shifted underground and the message grows more urgent with every passing day.

With their 8th studio album GURU GURU continued to explore Latin/Fusion sound that they started on the previous efforts. The music is ever more complex with increasing use of assorted percussions, keyboards, synths and saxophones, courtesy mainly of multi- instrumentalist Rolland Schaeffer. With its frequent take on light samba/bossa nova sound, at times it is close to easy-listening Muzak. What keeps it back on track is omnipresent Mani's humour and satire, which reminds us that we are not listening to some Brazilian "riviera-style" samba/jazz.

Based in Cornwall, Blind Yeo have emerged in recent years as one of the most distinctive voices in the UK’s psychedelic landscape. Born out of the isolation of lockdown before taking shape during a formative residency at The Cornish Bank, the project developed as an open-ended collective, bringing together musicians, visual artists and performers around a deeply collaborative practice. On stage, Blind Yeo quickly move beyond the format of a band, becoming a total experience shaped by trance, improvisation and real-time construction, where sound, bodies and images intertwine in a constantly shifting form.

The self-titled fourth album from this Krautrock underground group is a fierce display of droning fuzz psychedelia that easily holds its own on the shelf next to the Stooges' Funhouse, Can's Tago Mago, and Kraftwerk's first three albums. While the group remains one of the more obscure footnotes in the German psychedelic underground, their first three albums were profoundly influential of the global neo-psychedelic scene, with groups such as Spacemen 3, Bevis Frond, Nurse With Wound, Fushitsusha, and High Rise citing this album as a key influence.

Ruin Everything is the fifth studio album Stockholm psychedelic-rock pioneers Les Big Byrd. Fronted by songwriter and producer Jocke Åhlund, Les Big Byrd have toured around the world while building a rabid following, alternating between being one of Sweden's biggest rock bands at home and an underground psych act abroad.
