Meddle is the sixth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, by Harvest Records.

Modern Sounds is an album by trumpeter and bandleader Shorty Rogers featuring performances recorded in late 1951 and originally released as a 10-inch LP on the Capitol label.

Joni Mitchell Archives – Vol. 2: The Reprise Years (1968–1971) is a five-disc box set by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, originally set to be released on October 29, 2021, by Rhino Records, but later delayed to November 12, 2021.

Okumu released his first solo record Knopperz in 2021; an instrumental concept album based on pianist Duval Timothy’s 2017 album Sen AmIt was friend and mentor Lexxx who sparked the soul searching that kicked off his next record after he told Okumu that he was trying to explain who Okumu was but struggled to summarise his vast catalogue.

5 years after her last solo album, Sandra Nkaké returns with a fourth album: SCARS. SCARS is a jewel of powerful and organic soul songs that make us travel in weightlessness, suspended in the majestic breath and words of Sandra. His long-awaited return captivates us and takes us into a universe that gives pride of place to the energy of rock, to folk ballads that move from the first notes.

This was McLean's third album as leader and second for Prestige. The LP at the time helped to establish McLean on the jazz scene. This album of ballads and burners features sax man Jackie McLean in various small-group combinations. He is joined on three numbers by Hank Mobley and on two numbers by Donald Byrd (one of those numbers also including Mobley). The other three cuts are jazz quartets. Thus, the album title refers to the three personnel configurations used over the two recording dates.

This 1955 album was also known by the title "Bad, Bad Frances Faye" when it was first reissued in the 1970s. Faye interprets these standards accompanied by an orchestra conducted by talented arranger Russell Garcia, featuring sidemen Maynard Ferguson, Herbie Harper, Frank Rosolino and Mel Lewis, among others.

For the third volume in their cycle of Schubert’s symphonies, Edward Gardner and the CBSO turn to the first and fourth symphonies. Composed in 1813, when Schubert was just sixteen, the First Symphony admirably demonstrates the young composer’s grasp of symphonic form and technique, and whilst the influences of Haydn, Mozart and early Beethoven are clearly audible, the spirit of Schubert’s own distinctive voice is certainly in evidence.

Counter-tenor Franco Fagioli makes his Pentatone debut with Anime Immortali, together with the Kammerorchester Basel, exploring the music that Mozart composed for castratos. Ranging from opera to sacred music and culminating in Exsultate, jubilate, the recorded works share a sublime and profound character, demonstrating Mozart’s strong connection to the castrato voice. With this album, Fagioli finally returns to the composer that inflamed his desire to become a musician during his youth.

Lieder ohne Worte – Songs without Words – seems to be a description invented by Mendelssohn himself for these short, lyrical and descriptive piano pieces which he composed so prolifically. Indeed, it is arguable that these works define his pianistic output in the same way that the Mazurka defines Chopin’s. Publishing them in sets of six, Mendelssohn composed Lieder ohne Worte throughout his career – they proved a type of composition to which he had a lifetime attraction. For the first volume, rather than approaching them chronologically or as complete sets, Peter Donohoe selected pieces to build a satisfying programme.

‘Così amor mi fai languir’ is the title of an aria from the opera La forza dell’amor paterno by Alessandro Stradella, a composer who distinguished himself not only in the field of opera, but also in an even more prolific genre that is today much less popular: the cantata, a wonderful laboratory for creation and exploration. This CD presents a superb selection of little known works, here recorded for the first time, which cover the full expressive palette of amorous feelings.

Built around Smetana’s famous piano trio, one of the most renowned in Czech chamber music, this recording highlights two more confidential composers from the land of Bohemia, Zdeněk Fibich and Vítězslav Novák. Their trios, true gems of the repertoire, have not yet been recorded by a French trio; this album intends to revive the brilliance of these poignant works, both of which reflect the intensity of this Mittel Europa at the meeting point of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Marina Viotti’s first solo recital, ‘Porque existe otro querer’ (Because there’s another lover), combines French and Hispanic romances in an exploration of the chromatic kaleidoscope of love’s feelings.

Before turning his attention to opera, Puccini wrote a number of wonderful works that are perhaps less well known, even if they already put his full genius on show. This is particularly true of the astonishing Messa di Gloria, whose evocative power and shimmering colours well deserve the exceptional cast on this recording. Indeed, a special passion inspires the soloists and chorus gathered around Gustavo Gimeno and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg.
