Wired is the third solo album by British guitarist Jeff Beck, originally released on Epic Records in 1976. An instrumental album, it peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified platinum by the RIAA. Of the album tracks, four are originals by Narada Michael Walden and one by Hammer. Max Middleton contributed the homage to Led Zeppelin, "Led Boots", and Beck chose to interpret the Charles Mingus ode to saxophonist Lester Young, "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat", from the classic 1959 jazz album Mingus Ah Um. „There And Back“ is probably his most underrated and oft-overlooked work. Beck's guitar playing is still exceptional, and his six-string skills again take center stage on this third vocal-less album in a row. 'The Pump' is an absolute Beck classic, while Beck's muscular playing on 'El Becko,' 'Space Boogie,' and 'The Final Peace' is simply awesome. Another key ingredient to the album's success is the superb drumming of session ace Simon Philips, especially on the aforementioned 'Space Boogie'. The brilliant guitar shredder truly throws down some of his classiest and hardest driving repertoire for this amazing career album.

Recouping after a car crash and faced with the loss of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, Jeff Beck redefined what the Jeff Beck Group was about, deciding to tone down the bluesy bombast, adding keyboardist Max Middleton for a jazz edge, then having Bob Tench sing to give it an overblown early-'70s AOR edge.

Continuing with the same group lineup as on Rough & Ready, Jeff Beck Group was slagged off by critics for Steve Cropper's admittedly lazy production. However, several of the songs hold up masterfully, including the skronky "Ice Cream Cakes," the superlative redo of Don Nix's "Going Down," and the beautifully sad and wistful instrumental, "Definitely Maybe".

Joining keyboardist Max Middleton, drummer Richard Bailey, and producer George Martin from the Blow by Blow sessions are drummer Narada Michael Walden, bassist Wilbur Bascomb, and keyboardist Jan Hammer. Beck contributed no original material to Wired, instead relying on the considerable talents of his supporting cast.

In the summer of 2016, Jeff Beck celebrated 50 years of his musical career with a special concert at the famous Hollywood Bowl. The setlist reached back to his first recordings with The Yardbirds in 1966 and came right up to date with tracks from his most recent album Loud Hailer. As the evening progressed he was joined by many of the great musicians he has collaborated with over the years including Billy F. Gibbons, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Hall, Jan Hammer, Beth Hart and Steven Tyler. The show climaxed with the guests all joining forces for an exhilarating encore performance of Purple Rain in tribute to Prince, who had passed away a couple of months before the concert.
