Eno About The Need is the 2007 album by Chris Adams, who does under the name Bracken. Allegedly, only one copy of this record was made by the Anticon label (or Adams/Bracken himself) and allowed to be deteriorated. The record was then ripped digitally on Ears Hoping. This is that album.
In March 2007 Bracken issued Eno About The Need, a double vinyl LP in an edition of exactly one copy. Since that time, the LP has been circulating around the globe, being passed from listener to listener. The hope was that it would one day return, covered in graffiti, dust and scratches, with a few stories to tell. The LP did indeed come back, semi-destroyed, in June 2008.
The majority of the audio was originally salvaged from already decaying tape loops - sounds which were grainy and otherworldly - and it was hoped that as the record degraded and became warped and scratched, the listeners would unwittingly contribute towards the final record.
The re-issue set comprises of a CD transfer mastered from the vinyl and a full colour booklet illustrating the artistic contributions made by the people who looked after the record. It is housed in a handmade, stamped and numbered recycled card sleeve and is strictly limited to 500 copies worldwide.
