On Sundowser, Bow plays the Airline Bojotar that combines a resonator guitar and banjo, adding Humbucker and Piezo pickups that blend together tonally. Sundowser was recorded in a sustainable, solar-powered studio in Vermont. Bow s last band release with Perfect Trainwreck ended the band s run with Eden, the album entirely written on the electric banjo. Sundowser offers the same sonic majesty that Bow Thayer has created as much as he has made his instruments. The songs have a presence as individuals on the album, however, moving away from tracks that lead towards a common goal as on his most recent releases. Sundowser opens as the rubber hits the road for Bow Thayer, starting up the album with Burning Miles . Chords and notes roll like the highway as the story travels from concrete to clay. The instruments on Sundowser lock for a united front, structuring So We Build on a classic rock form. Gentle cascading notes dig in their heels like the pair in the story for a Tug of War , bright pops of percussion surround Bow and Tracy Bonham (guest vocals) as they Borrow a Bus , and a regimented banjo riff and hot breaths of beats pave the way for the confessions of Guild Talking . Sundowser bubbles with warm organ swells ( The Funeral Crasher ), confident Indie Roots fairy tales ( Snow Goose ), self-truth s ( Drug Lust ), and the sparkle of strings introducing sweeping rock roots theatrics ( Downtrodder ). –The Alternate Root

Bow Thayer's Sundowser is full of amazing jam band rock and roll. It has just the right tinge of folk. It's got a hefty does of hippie aesthetic. It's got a bittersweet country twang in the echoes. And maybe just a hint of mysticism in the works. This is great music for an open field music festival in the mountains or for any time you want to pretend you're at one. American Songwriter Magazine says: this onetime Levon Helm compatriot is the best artist to come from New England in recent years. The creative vision is stunning and he will no doubt take Americana into new sonic territory. –The Americana Music Show

[T]rippy and experimental…..bold, creative and slightly enigmatic in the best way –Elmore Magazine
