Carlo Colombara - Great Opera Scenes (2015)

Carlo Colombara’s heavy and powerful voice and acting skills have made him one of the world’s best Verdi interpreters of today. His repertory also includes forays into belcanto and French repertory.

A frequent guest with the world’s great opera companies, he performed at Teatro alla Scala di Milano, New York MET, ROH Covent Garden in London, Salzburg Festival, Wiener Konzerthaus, Teatro Real de Madrid, Liceu de Barcelona, Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper in München, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Opernhaus in Zürich, Monnaie in Bruxelles, as well as in Verona, Roma, Parma and Bologna, working with such conductors as Daniele Gatti, Jesús López-Cobos, Michele Mariotti, Zubin Mehta, Marc Minkowski, Riccardo Muti, Kazushi Ono, Daniel Oren, Antonio Pappano, Donato Renzetti and Nello Santi.

2014/15 highlights have included Don Carlo (Filippo II) in Tokyo, Luisa Miller (Walter) in Genova, Attila (title role) in Catania, Aida (Re) and La bohème (Colline) at Teatro alla Scala in Milano, Nabucco (Zaccaria) in Tel Aviv, Mefistofele (title role) in Mexico City, Maria Stuarda at Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris and Aida (Ramphis) in Arena di Verona and Don Carlo (Filippo II) at Opera in Varna.

He opened the 2015/16 season performing as soloist in Messa da Requiem by Verdi with the Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala and at Philharmonie in Munich. He returned to Teatro alla Scala as Sparafucile in Rigoletto.

Among his future plans are productions of Norma (Oroveso) at Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, Nabucco (Zaccaria) in Mahon and Las Palmas, Boris Godunov (role debut as Pimen) in Varna, Macbeth (Banco) at Monnaie de Bruxelles, Faust in Rijieka, Anna Bolena (Enrico VIII) at Teatro alla Scala and at Opéra d’Avigon and Aida at Liceu de Barcelona.
