The duo of modern Italian prog notables Fabio Zuffanti (Finisterre, Höstsonaten, La Maschera Di Cera and his own solo works) and Stefano Agnini (La Coscienza Di Zeno) collaborate on the new Italian progressive super-project La Curva Di Lesmo. Inspired by the first story of the surreal, erotic and sci-fi comic books `Valentina' created in 1965 by artist/writer Guido Crepax, the pair wished to combine that shared interest with elements of the most mysterious and esoteric progressive releases, both Italian and worldwide.
Released in October 2015, the self-titled album "La Curva di Lesmo" aims to capture the atmosphere present on works by early important Italian groups such as Opus Avantra, Il Balletto Di Bronzo, Semiramis, Cervello and others. Comprised of three tracks ranging from eight to twenty-six minutes, the album covers an adventurous range of folk, pop, symphonic and even some surprising electronic influences (the duo citing Italian groups in that style I Signori Della Galassia and Automat as inspiration), with a side-long suite in the second half a glorious progressive work in the manner of the most grandiose, gothic, classical and theatrical flavoured RPI/Italian prog of the Seventies. It also features instrumental and vocal contributions from a range of guests from members of Italian groups such as Il Tempio Delle Clessidre, Latte E Miele, Analogy, Finisterre and Nickelodeon, and is without question the most lavish, vocally-rich, genuine RPI love-letter from Zuffanti to date, and one of the standout high-profile Italian progressive releases of 2015.
