These 17 hot classical anthems could probably be applied to any sporting event, but judging by its vibrant green and yellow cover painting of a large soccer ball, Fiesta 2014: Hot Classical Anthems for a Festival of Sport is aimed squarely at the World Cup and its 2014 host country, Brazil. Consisting largely of Latin-themed classical selections, Fiesta 2014, as a collection, is far more subtle and nuanced than the primitive stomp-stomp-clap "We Will Rock You" chants that have ruled sporting arenas since 1977. If applied correctly, the dramatic fare presented here will change the sporting industry forever as titans of the international soccer community convene upon Rio de Janeiro to do battle to Martynas Levickis' buoyant accordion melodies and Miloš Karadaglić's understated solo guitar adaptation of "Mas Que Nada." Giants will fall as teams go mano y mano to the theme from West Side Story, Ravel's "Boléro," and the fever-pitched bombast of the "Carmen Overture." Review by Timothy Monger
