Born in the Corsican capital Ajaccio on 21 August 1984, Alizée spent her early childhood playing peacefully in the warm Mediterranean sun. Then, at the tender age of four, the young prodigy turned into a budding dancer, excelling at jazz, tap and classical dance. Multi-talented Alizée also expressed her artistic worth at the easel and in 1995 she went on to win a colouring competition organised by an airline company. Her doting father had sent his daughter's effort off unbeknownst to her, expecting little in return. Imagine his delight when little Alizée's design won first prize and ended up reproduced on the side of an aircraft – named after his talented offspring, what's more!
This auspicious start in life turned into a veritable fairytale in 1999 when Alizée passed the auditions to appear on the TV talent show "Graines de Star" (broadcast on M6). Alizée had originally wanted to sign up for the programme's dance contest. However, as the dance category was reserved for groups, the budding young artiste entered herself for the singing category instead. And she went on to win the hearts of millions of viewers, scooping the "Meilleure Graine" award for most promising young singing star of tomorrow.
