This is a great introduction to Opera, as well as a great addition to anyone's collection as it contains 3 discs. One disc is the audiobook giving a rundown of the details of the opera, tips on how to listen and the general synopsis of the story. The other two discs are a great version of Carmen, opéra-comique in 4 acts; Composed by Georges Bizet, Performed by Paris National Opera Theater Orchestra with Viorica Cortez, Grace Bumbry, Michel Trempont, Kostas Paskalis, Albert Voli, Eliane Liblin, Jon Vickers, Claude Meloni, Mirella Freni, Bernanrd Gontcharenko - Conducted by Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos.
<b>What can I tell?</b>
I was struggling with what to write here for a while so I'll try my best!
After my recent introduction to the opera Carmen, which was my first foray into any opera, having had no interest in the music in the past, I have become somewhat obsessed with it!
I am still trying out different versions of Carmen for now, plus I plan to go and see different people playing it in the many theatres near where I live!
So! I got this from my local library. I thought it would be interesting, possibly educational, to have an audiobook that tells you about the opera in general, then walks you through the different acts, giving parts of the music and then the narrator giving information for each one.
It was a good choice as I am glad to have found it. This really is a great disc for anyone who is new to opera, like me, and wishes to try to understand a little more of what it is about.
I recommend it and really can't think of what else to say!
The audiobook came as 3 discs.
One for the book and two others containing the opera in full.
