H-Blockx is a German quintet formed in 1990 in Muenster. Since their debut single Rising High (Sing Sing, 1993), they focused on the furious funk-metal sound popularized by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Rage Against The Machine.Their debut album Time To Move (1994), containing a second single, Move, sold half a million copies. The follow-up, Discover My Soul (1996), sold almost one million copies.

Fly Eyes (1998) (Risk, 1999) is supposed to be their world-wide break-through. It displays a not too original take on rap-metal (Fly, Without You, Can't Break My Fear), a propensity for Bon Jovi-level melodrama (Liquid Sunlight), and an even less original reprise of German pop-metal (One Day, Even Goes, Wish). The album's best moments may actually be the once that steer away from heavy metal's stereotypes: the power-pop of Tell Me Why, the acoustic ballads Take Me Home and Stars, and even the trip-hop Cold and Paradise Valley. Clumsy, derivative, sterile.

H-Blockx have also written the soundtrack to the film Bang Boom Bang (1999).
