Hadise was born Hadise Açıkgöz in Mol, Belgium on 22 October 1985 into a Turkish family. Both her parents are from Sivas, a city in central Turkey. She went to a general-education school and after that, gained a BA in Marketing.
She was first noticed in the Flemish version of Pop Idol, Idool 2003. Even though Hadise failed to win, she was immediately offered an album contract in recognition of her talent . Soon after, her first single Sweat (feat. Raw Jawz) was released and instantly became a hit, being played constantly on dance radio. The second single Stir me up was a huge hit all over Europe, making her one of the hottest new music artists on the continent. Hadise was asked to present the program "Pop stars" on Turkish TV, a programme with an average audience of twenty million. This got her on the cover of the Turkish magazines Esquire, Tempo and Aktüel. She is however, still based in Mol.
