(from the liner:) The setar is a four string long-necked lute from Iran. In the hands of a master such as Jalal Zolfonoun, this instrument transmits musical emotions and textures reminiscent of the courts of ancient Persia. This unique recording features two setars, along with def (frame drum), dombek (hourglass drum) and occasional vocals.
