Reviews

Unfortunately, no official review for this one available. So here is mine, with a bit of historical perspective. Vedernikov was, like Sviatoslav Richter, a pupil of Heinrich Neuhaus, and developed a close friendship with the later giant. They performed and recorded Bach concertos together. Vedernikov, if memory serves me right, went on to become a teacher.
Still, he made a lot of good to great recordings, most of which have been licensed by Denon from Radio Ostankino, e. g. they are live and mono. There are not many reviews available, but I have heard his playing being described as efficient, stiff and lacking in style and imagination. Can't agree with it, even though he is no Richter or Sofronitsky. I like what I've heard so far, and it is not only the technical command he displays. This coupling of Brahms and Weber might not be the ideal introduction, but it is piano playing of the highest order.
