In the 80's Haitink recorded his second Beethoven cycle, this time with his Concertgebouw Orchestra. In the mid-70's he had made analogue recordings with the LSO. A Beethoven cycle with the RCO however was long overdue and was realized in Haitink's last few years as principal conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra. The recordings won critical acclaim, both nationally and internationally. A few years later Philips re-issued the cycle in a special box-set, where the original 6 CD's were crammed into a set of five. In this post the original 6-CD set is used, with the original coverart. Enjoy!
