Taking its place as one of the finest CCM albums ever recorded, The River Is Rising also marked the beginning of the Greg X. Volz solo career after departing Petra in 1985. Carefully walking a tightrope between flat-out rock 'Barrier' and radio-friendly fare such as the title track, Volz also shows a flare for the experimental, as in the neo-techno pop of 'Break Out Of The Trance'. All of the factors adding up to 'classic' are present on this breakthrough release.
