Francesco Carella aka Frenkcarella poly instrumentalist (keyboards, guitars, drums and percussion), composer, researcher in the experimentation of the Arts, actor and Anthroposophus, Giuseppe Cascarano guitarist, Giuseppe Quarta drummer. The three, after years and various musical experiences behind them, met in Lecce at the beginning of 2015 and after a month I Viaggi di Madeleine was born. Who is Madaleine? "Madeleine represents the adolescent soul who, despite all the rottenness, resists trying to remain intact". In May 2015, the first studio work, a demo of 4 songs recorded live at SUM_Km 97 (Lecce), immediately after the first concerts arrive, a mini tour of 5 dates and in August they open the Med Festival of San Marzano ( TA). The band, always engaged in composition, improvisation and experimentation, in February 2016 recorded a decidedly progressive rock song, technical genre and open to the multiple influences of art, at the Laboratori Musicali di Trepuzzi (LE), "Beggar". The three continue the artistic composition activity and for two years they play in different clubs in Puglia. In February 2017 they recorded a new single "Autumn counterpoints" after which they worked on the recording of their first album.
Francesco Carella in arte Frenkcarella poli strumentista (tastiere, chitarre, batteria e percussioni), compositore, ricercatore nella sperimentazione delle Arti, attore ed Antroposofo, Giuseppe Cascarano chitarrista, Giuseppe Quarta batterista. I tre, dopo anni e varie esperienze musicali alle spalle, s’incontrano a Lecce agli inizi del 2015 e dopo un mese nascono I Viaggi di Madeleine. Chi è Madaleine ? "Madeleine rappresenta l ‘anima Adolescente che nonostante tutto il marcio, resiste cercando di rimanere intatta". A maggio 2015, il primo lavoro in studio, una demo di 4 brani registrati in presa diretta al SUM_Km 97 (Lecce), subito dopo arrivano i primi concerti, un mini tour di 5 date e ad Agosto aprono il Med Festival di San Marzano (TA). La band sempre impegnata in lavoro di composizione, improvvisazione e sperimentazione, a febbraio del 2016 incide ai Laboratori Musicali di Trepuzzi (LE), “Mendicante” un brano decisamente rock progressive, genere tecnico e aperto ai molteplici influssi dell’arte. I tre continuano l’attività artistica di composizione e per due anni suonano in diversi locali della Puglia. A febbraio del 2017 incidono un nuovo singolo “Contrappunti d’autunno” dopo il quale lavorano alla registrazione del loro primo disco.

This is a summary of the inspiration that Madeleine's Travels have had to give a name to the progressive band from Lecce which is now grappling with the promotion of their first completely self-produced work of the same name, I Viaggi Di Madeleine, which will take place on 16 October. in Lecce at the Ergot Cultural Workshops. Theirs is a disc that brings to mind atmospheres typical of the progressive rock of the seventies, but which also draws on the following decades, composing a completely personal style that leaves an excellent impression thanks to the excellent sounds and musical skills of Francesco Carella who with the voice and keyboards can really do us by exhibiting a sound baggage that recalls the touches of a certain Emerson, as well as the guitars of Giuseppe Cascarano, who really know how to play with the various styles, refer a little to all the inseparable of rock and blues. And so it is also for the use of drums by Giuseppe Quarta who together with the free position bass form the rhythmic platform on which the sound of Viaggi Di Madeleine is based. In the disc it is perceivable in all respects the decennial experience of the various members and what are their musical influences that, sometimes seem characterized by an almost dirty but incisive sound, sometimes instead imbued with a limpidity that makes this band deserve of Salento the title of "brilliant". And it is a genius that the band has now carved into the grooves of this record that with the opening entrusted to Autumn counterpoints, in addition to shining with psychedelic verve, focuses on the use of tools that are complemented with the beautiful voice of Francesco Carella. The second piece of I Viaggi Di Madeleine, Gods Of Distant Worlds, seems a little more inspired and composite capable as it is of imagining a musical journey that from the velvety initial sounds moves everything on an almost experimental rock imbued as it is steps to … Muse. But we know how much the band works on refinement and, in these times, we assure you, finding such bands is really complicated. Il Viaggio probably represents the most symphonic part of this band that makes guitar and keyboards its mantra, and so the lightness of a "traveling" rock is presented here with a style that expressly refers to all that kind of music that has represented an era, that of the seventy that we lived fully because we believed it and, perhaps, some of them know what we are talking about. Here the melodic line seems to want to represent that "Madeleine's dream" that becomes a journey even when Giuseppe Cascarano's guitar is unleashed in a rock of the past but always current. Kamaloka is instead a piece that apparently travels in prog experimentalism, but which soon falls into Goblinian-style atmospheres and, if sometimes, from the final soundtrack of a film where fear has always appeared. And it is to the superb musical interpretation that one owes all the beauty of an album which, if for I Viaggi Di Madeleine is the first, already demonstrates how this band, continuing in this wake, has a great band future. The conclusion of the disc, which sees in Mendicante, the final piece, shows how music is then the synthesis of all the experiences of the members, and of those loves towards the most disparate genres of rock music that absorb all the best of the production of the years progressive.

Questo in sintesi l’ispirazione che i Viaggi di Madeleine hanno avuto per dare un nome alla band progressive leccese che è ora alle prese con la promozione del loro primo lavoro omonimo, completamente autoprodotto, I Viaggi Di Madeleine, che avrà luogo il prossimo 16 ottobre a Lecce presso le Officine Culturali Ergot. Il loro è un disco che richiama alla mente atmosfere tipiche del progressive rock anni settanta, ma che attinge anche nei successivi decenni, componendo uno stile del tutto personale che lascia un’ottima impressione grazie alle ottime sonorità e capacità musicali di Francesco Carella che con la voce e le tastiere ci sa fare davvero esibendo un bagaglio sonoro che richiama alla mente i tocchi di un certo Emerson, così come le chitarre di Giuseppe Cascarano, che sanno giocare davvero con i vari stili, fanno riferimento un po’ a tutto l’inscindibile del rock e del blues. Ed è così anche per l’uso della batteria da parte di Giuseppe Quarta che insieme al basso di Posizione libera formano la piattaforma ritmica su cui si basa tutto il sound dei Viaggi Di Madeleine. Nel disco è percepibile in tutto e per tutto la decennale esperienza dei vari membri e quelle che sono le loro influenze musicali che, a volte sembrano caratterizzate da un suono quasi sporco ma incisivo, a volte invece intriso di una limpidezza che fa meritare a questa band del Salento il titolo di “geniale”. Ed è una genialità che ormai la band ha scolpito nei solchi di questo disco che con l’apertura affidata a Contrappunti d’autunno, oltre a brillare di verve psychedelica pone al centro dell’attenzione l’uso degli strumenti che si completano con la bella voce di Francesco Carella. Il secondo pezzo de I Viaggi Di Madeleine, Gods Of Distant Worlds, sembra un po’ più ispirato e composito capace com’è di far immaginare un viaggio musicale che dai vellutati suoni iniziali si sposta tutto su un rock quasi sperimentalistico intriso com’è di passaggi alla …. Muse. Ma sappiamo bene quanto la band lavori sulla ricercatezza e, di questi tempi, ve lo assicuriamo, trovare band del genere è davvero complicato. Il Viaggio probabilmente rappresenta la parte più sinfonica di questa band che fa della chitarra e delle tastiere il proprio mantra, e così la leggerezza di un rock “viaggiante” si presenta qui con uno stile che fa espresso riferimento a tutto quel genere di musica che ha rappresentato un’epoca, quella dei settanta che abbiam vissuto pienamente perché ci abbiam creduto e, forse, qualcuno di loro sa di cosa stiamo parlando. Qui la linea melodica sembra proprio voler rappresentare quel “sogno di Madeleine” che diventa viaggio anche quando la chitarra di Giuseppe Cascarano si scatena in un rock d’altri tempi ma sempre attuale. Kamaloka è invece un pezzo che apparentemente viaggia nello sperimentalismo prog, ma che ben presto si cala in atmosfere di stile gobliniano e, se volte, da colonna sonora finale di un film dove la paura ha sempre fatto capolino. Ed è alla superba interpretazione musicale che si deve tutta la bellezza di un album che, se per I Viaggi Di Madeleine è il primo, già dimostra come questa band, proseguendo su questa scia, abbia un futuro da grande band. La conclusione del disco, che vede in Mendicante, il pezzo finale, dimostra come la musica sia poi la sintesi di tutte le esperienze dei componenti, e di quegli amori verso i più disparati generi di musica rock che assorbono tutto il meglio della produzione degli anni progressive.
