With a musical career that spanned over five decades Jimmy Witherspoon sang R&B, swing, gospel and jazz but his roots were always in the blues. His deep and mellow voice and impeccable taste made him a successful jazz/blues crossover artist. This CD includes two fine live albums from 1959 and 1960, with backing from star musicians such as Ben Webster, Gerry Mulligan, Coleman Hawkins and Earl Hines. Five bonus tracks have been added.
