This 1977 session, which marked the end of Keith Jarrett's contract with Impulse! as well as the disbanding of the quartet, is particularly unusual in that the bulk of the material comes not from Keith but from Margot Jarrett, Paul Motian and Dewey Redman. There's even an obscure Alec Wilder gem thrown in for good measure. The performances, though no less inventive, are less turbulent than was standard. There had been much
