    Nach unserer erfolgreichen Erstveröffentlichung der Instrumentalkonzerte Georg Matthias Monns lassen wir nun noch eine CD des Komponisten mit sechs seiner Sinfonien folgen, nicht nur um dem Komponisten den ihm gebührenden Rang zu verschaffen, sondern auch, um Ihnen die Bekanntschaft mit diesen lebendigen Werken zu ermöglichen. Monn schrieb mehr als 20 Sinfonien, die leider nur noch zum Teil erhalten sind.
    CPO bietet eine Auswahl aus dem Gesamtwerk; die ein deutliches Bild von der Entwicklung sowie von der Bedeutung des Sinfonikers Monn vermittelt. Mit erkennbaren Sonatenhauptsatzformen wie Exposition oder Durchführungen tritt Monn schon als »Wegbereiter der Wiener Klassik« auf. Zwar einerseits noch in der Kontrapunktik eines Johann Joseph Fux verwurzelt, zeigt sich in seinen Sinfonien auch eine originelle, sprungvolle Harmonik, die seiner Musik ein hohes Maß an Ausdruckskraft verleiht. Und, nebenbei bemerkt, eine Sinfonie Monns aus dem Jahre 1740 ist das erste Beispiel in der Gattungsgeschichte, das ein Menuett aufweist!
    Das Münchener Ensemble L'Arpa Fest-ante musiziert unter der Leitung von Michi Gaigg die zeitlich leider nicht genau datierbaren Sinfonien in G-dur, Es-dur, D-dur, A-dur und zwei in B-dur.
