The final installment of the Anthology series has two discs of previously unreleased material from the White Album era through the group's demise in early 1970. In terms of sheer listenability, this may be the strongest volume of the three, if only because it focuses almost solely upon studio recordings rather than mixing live concerts/broadcasts and outtakes…

This album documents a 1996 solo concert by Yes singer Jon Anderson, and finds the helium-voiced prog-rock legend tackling a wealth of tunes from the Yes canon as well as some songs from his collaborations with Greek keyboard wizard Vangelis…

Gordon studied with Phil Woods in his younger days but has transcended any influence from him and has found his own voice. His playing is without any of the cliches one could imagine in contemporary alto playing, and his tone on both alto and soprano is really nice. What sets this recording apart is the presence of the three horns - Tim Hagans on trumpet and Mark Turner on tenor saxophone. Several of the tunes really get into the voicings of two and three horns together, creating harmonies and sounds that are inventive and inspiring. There is a lot of improvising even when all three horns are playing at once and it works. The line between composition and improvisation is fluid and seamless. Imaginitive and cohesive playing by all five musicians, and always seeming to fit the spirit of the composition.

nUmixxx is Ralf Pauli known by other IC Michael Weisser-driven project "BiologICal-Events" and by Software as Hardware remixes album. "It Takes a Freak…" is freaking psychedelic trance ambient experience just like Hallucinogen meets SETI. Acid loops, psy trance drive & minimal dub ambient themes, perfect genre blend. Cool intelligent music.

This CD is a wonderful selection of shorter works by the composer, including two of his radical programmatic pieces, played with skillful zest or, where appropriate, contained emotion by the Concentius Musicus Wien directed by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Originally written for the virtuoso orchestra of the Bishop of Olomouc, the performances here are based on the original, unrevised manuscripts. The collection opens with the "Sonata II a 5 Violae", one of the two included five-part string sonatas, accompanied by a continuo with bass and harpsichord in a lively Allegro, which alternates with brief Adagio interludes, and seques eventually into a skipping triple meter Presto tempo and an Adagio coda.

Christoph Eschenbach's superb live performance provides a refreshingly vital alternative to the prevailing trend toward stodgy Bruckner interpretation. Eschenbach shows himself a supremely assured Brucknerian, directing his excellent Houston Symphony players in a taut, flowing performance. The first movement has a fiery coda, the ebb and flow of the beautiful Adagio is expertly controlled, and the exultant finale has a drive and excitement rarely heard in modern Bruckner performances.

On their third album, "Beyond the Maybe Machine", Melting Euphoria continued to revive the sounds of early '70s psychedelic space rock outfits like Hawkwind, Gong and Ozric Tentacles, adding some of the synthetic textures of late-'70s electronic outfits like Tangerine Dream. Frequently, the group come up with interesting sonic flourishes and they know how to create trippy psychedelic soundscapes.

Five Way Street is a 1996 double bootleg CD featuring loads of demos, live versions, and soundtracks by Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young and some of its incarnations. There are some portions of this disc where it sounds as if the person piecing the audio together did not know how to measure things properly. Outside of that personal gripe, this is a very good set of CSNY rarities. The Third Eye made them shine like jewelry.

Another archival album, this time from two of Anthony Phillips' long standing friends, David Thomas and Ronnie Gunn. Many Genesis fans may be familiar with David, he was, after all, the guy whose flat Tony Banks and Peter Gabriel shared for almost five years, as well as assisting on their first album, "From Genesis To Revelation". The album draws on material which the two main protagonists wrote in the period between 1969 and 1978, and as such is very much a product of its time as well as being an intriguing snapshot into an ear of music that has been undeservedly maligned by the smart set who sadly dominate our music industry these days.
Don't let the Genesis tag fool you, however. This album is not a "Collection of Antiques & Curios" to paraphrase another well known album of the period…

By the time Electronic's long-delayed second album appeared in 1996, the zeitgeist in Britain had completely shifted from its members' parent bands to a new generation of groups, with Oasis, who shared management with Sumner and Marr's project, standing forth out of a horde of newer Brit-pop acts. Electronic itself chose not to try and compete, following its own low-key path while working with a variety of guest musicians, including returning singer Denise Johnson. The intriguing surprise came courtesy of an additional keyboardist - none other than Kraftwerk veteran Karl Bartos, who also co-wrote nearly half the release with Sumner and Marr…

Released in 1996, Fire Extinguisher is a wonderful bootleg by Nirvana from a show in at Nakano Sun Plaze in Tokyo, Japan on 19 February, 1992, soundboard sourced. The band still a trio consisting of Kurt, Krist (who was still listed as "Chris"), and Dave, were still in top form, performing songs from both albums and a single here and there, along with subtle humor from Kurt. This would end up being Nirvana's last Japanese show. Laura are the company who put this out.

Omar & the Howlers is a Texas based electric blues and blues rock band, formed in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1973 by the blues guitarist and singer Omar Kent Dykes. Three years later they moved to Austin, Texas. The band has regularly toured European countries. Omar & the Howlers has released around twenty-five successful albums on Columbia, Provogue, Ruf Records, and their current record label, Big Guitar Music. Omar shakes up the Howlers' lineup yet again for Southern Style, yet the changes don't affect his sound much at all. Working with guitarist Stephen Bruton, bassist Paul Junior, drummer Steve Kilmer, percussionist Mark Hallman and organist Nick Connolly, Omar Dykes kicks out a set of swampy blues-rock that alternates between New Orleans grunge and tight Memphis grooves.
