Ron Braunstein, better known under his stage-name Necro, is a Jewish-American rapper, producer, director record label owner from Brooklyn, New York. He is the owner of Psycho-Logical-Records founded November, 1999. He is the brother of fellow rapper Ill Bill.

Brooklyn-based hardcore rapper Necro raised the bar for perversity in the late '90s and early 2000s with his music and films. Influenced by drugs, gore, pornography, and violence, Necro set out to incorporate these themes into his rapping. He effectively did so on his debut full-length, I Need Drugs (2000). The album featured drug songs (the title track, which is an interpolation of LL Cool J's "I Need Love"), gore songs ("Your Fucking Head Split"), porn songs ("Get on Your Knees"), and violent songs ("The Most Sadistic"). Moreover, Necro directed a video for "I Need Drugs" that featured people shooting up heroin and smoking crack while he rapped, and he also included lots of bizarre photos in the album's booklet.

Necro began his own label, Psycho + Logical Records, and created a website, www.necrohiphop.com, to market his music and movies. Following his debut album, Necro released a series of albums compiling random recordings of his from the '90s (mostly radio-aired freestyle performances and home demos) and followed up I Need Drugs with Gory Days (2001), a similarly exploitative effort. His films – 187 Reasons Y (1997), The Devil Made Me Do It (1998) – are just as perverse, if not more, modeled after old-school gore films as well as snuff and porn. Unsurprisingly, Necro aligned himself with various pornographers and began marketing their goods on his website as well, extending his brand name as far as he could.

Ultra hardcore and white as your grandmother's bedsheets - the definition of hip-hop's self-proclaimed Necromancer. He is by turns witty, demented, sickening, and hilarious all in the course of a self-produced sixteen track full length album, "I Need Drugs."

If you didn't know about this indie label rapper who occasionally has sick freestyles on the "CM Famalam" radio show as well as appearances with seminal rap crew Non-Phixion, you may be on his nutsac from having heard or hearing the title track. This parody of LL Cool J's "I Need Love" is so long overdue it will probably succeed in flying over the heads of a new rap generation which never checked for ish from the 1980's. Those who haven't heard the original version should check for it first; and those who have will undoubtedly laugh their heads off at this remake. Necro perfectly nails all the elements of the song: LL's soft-voiced sincerity, the synthesizer chords, and the smooth breakdown between beats - but the whole time he's filling his prescription for pharmaceutical stimulation.

"When I come home from work
I'm fiendin for an eight-ball
I got crack on my mind
I'm hearin cocaine call
Tellin me to beep the dealer to deliver me stuff
Keep it a secret from my wife, cuz she thinks I don't use drugs"

Don't confuse Necro for Eminem (or he's likely to slash your throat with a razor) because their styles are nothing alike. Besides sounding distinctly like the missing member of the Beastie Boys (and also having Jewish heritage) Necro is truely not interested in the kind of hip-hop props Eminem craves (and mostly deserves). Necro is just out there on his own label, doing his own thing, making sick music. Necro is intentionally too nasty to ever have any of his songs cross over - his whole audience is being built one fan of his sadistic rap style at a time. Songs like the aptly titled "Underground" epitomize this approach:

"How can I make my point to you fools?
I'll drop a dead A&R off a roof
and on his chest it'll says 'Necro rules!'
I'm above the constitution
My shit stays bubblin like burnt flesh
My rhymes are acid in Clorox solution"

The downside of this record though is that this full length includes all of his previous twelve inch hits like "The Most Sadistic", "Your Fucking Head Split" and the viciously funny "Get On Your Knees" (Necro's crass ode to oral sex). Out of 13 actual songs, at least 8 are cuts re-released here. Coupled with the somewhat repetitive nature of his topics (death, dying, and the dead prove he's definitely a necrophiliac) Necro is a hard sell. You can see why he would want to compile these songs together on one record, but for the people who were already Necro fans or already owned his previous singles there's almost nothing new left. Three radio freestyles are included; and while amusing they actually run into the problem real freestylers have - occasional gaps, stumbles, and lack of ideas. After listening to the formed and executed concepts of songs like "Fuck You to the Track" and "S.T.D." this rambling will be a let down to any but the most diehard fans.

By the time Necro releases a new album he should carefully consider whether he wants to milk each possible single to his fanbase or release an entire record of previously unheard material they can appreciate. Necro will definitely be in demand as a producer, but he may unintentionally kill off interest in his own solo raps.

Gory Days is the second studio album by American hip hop musician Necro, released on November 7, 2001 by Psycho+Logical-Records. In this album, Necro emphasizes his death rap theme, rather than sex, such as in his 2005 album The Sexorcist. The album spawned two singles, "Bury You with Satan" and "Morbid".

The album was Necro's quickest selling release at the time. Featured guests on the album include Mr. Hyde, Goretex, Ill Bill, Captain Carnage and Kid Joe. The track "Circle of Tyrants" features all four members of the then-non-existent hip hop supergroup Circle of Tyrants who named their group after the title of this collaboration. Band members of the group include Necro, Mr. Hyde, Goretex and Ill Bill.

This Jack Light kid is a total p-ssy. I noticed you only write reviews on psycho+logical albums and completely sh-t all over them. You don't like Necro??? Great!!! Stick to your Cornball "J5" safe hip hop and don't allow any "cowardly" hip hop artist to warp and destroy your feeble little mind. Necro would snuff you in the mouth for being such a little b-+-h. Talk about being a coward, sitting there comfortably talking sh-t on your parents computer. You kook.

With that said, ignore his little sermon and peep this out. If you still live at home with mom and dad, go to church, and pee the bed then stay away from this. If you dig quality beats and brutal rhymes delivered by true emcee's then pick this up. This is one of the best releases from Psycho+Logical. Standout cuts include - "Dopesick", "Swordfish" and my personal favorite "Reign in Blood". Unless you have problems distinguishing fantasy from reality, this is a must buy.

This album is amazing, the flows are some of the tightest flows Iv ever heard, the beats are so sweet. Who the hell would ever put double bass in hip-hop but necro (now im just waitng for him to throw some blast beats in there, that would be the sweetest thing ever.) . I usually only listin to metal and mostly death metal and now apparnently Death rap also. Mixing death metal imagary and lyrical content with hiphop has got to be one of the best ideas in a long time, and now hes mixing metal guitar in there too. I noticed alot of people writing these reviews said they werent all that into metal which sucks because you will probably not get 50% of the references he uses. Like when he mentions using Carcasses lyric sheet. Carcass is a huge underground death metal band. He mentions tons of underground death metal and heavy metal groups and names of people in the groups in his flows its amazing. What makes it so great is that he mixes two genres that normally dont get mixed, as most people into death metal arnt into hip hop and vice versa. Anyway this album is great Necro will own all of you.

Man, there are so many haters… where do these people come from?? If you don't like Necro, don't listen to him. Attention little bxtches like "Jack Light": go listen to your mainstream bullshxt or your "real" underground hip-hip, whatever that hell that means. Whenever I hear supposed "real" hip-hop like Jurassic 5 it puts me to sleep because it is so damn boring. And what is all of this crap about Necro being a coward? Ladies and gentleman, I have a news flash… this is entertainment, not real life!!! Do you think Necro actually mutilates bodies, sacrifices goats and rapes women? Of course not! There is a demographic of people out there (like myself) who enjoy listening to music like this… it provides an outlet for the stresses of everyday life and it's harmless fun. Really, what is the difference between a Necro album and a horror movie? Some people like horror movies, some people like horror music, some people like both. If you're a whiny sensitive f*ggot like "Jack Light", who is easily offended and gets scared if there is a spider on the wall, then do the world a favor and kill yourself. Or better yet, stay alive, shut up, and don't post negative reviews for Necro CDs on Amazon. I don't understand why people feel the need to bash underground artists anyway (my J5 comment was only for the sake of this argument!)… it's not like these guys are being shoved down your throat like all of the crap on the radio and MTV. If you don't like it, just stay away!! It really is that easy…

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let me move along to reviewing "The Sexorcist" for the real Necro fans out there. This is definitely not Necro's best work, but it is a nice concept album that should please most fans. Those of you that only like the horror-themed death rap may find yourselves disappointed that the album doesn't have any metal influences or songs strictly about violence and killing. This CD is 100% about sex, but if you read the song titles and noticed that the album was titled "The Sexorcist," this shouldn't come as a huge surprise. Anyone who can appreciate Necro's amazing word play and sick imagery should still enjoy this album.

The porn star guest appearances don't add all that much beyond interesting dialogue, but they do help to set the album's tone. I'd say that the album's best song is definitely track #1, "Who's Ya Daddy"… this is probably one of my top 5 favorite Necro songs of all time. The sample on this track is priceless and Necro's insane rapping matches the beat perfectly. My three other favorites are "Vaginal Secretions," "Whore," and "Edge Play"… all great sex tracks. Unfortunately, the entire album isn't anywhere near as good as these four tracks. Some of the tracks are extremely cheesy ("I Remain Stiff") and some are just downright unnecessary ("Piss"), but there is still enough here to draw interest if you're a fan.

If you're expecting an album like "I Need Drugs," "Gory Days," or "The Pre-Fix For Death," you aren't going to find what you're looking for. Necro keeps things fresh and once again comes out with an album that has a new sound. Say what you will about him, but I think Necro is one of the best producers and rappers out there. This music is strictly for the hardcore. Haters die!

Circle of Tyrants is made up of Necro, Ill Bill, Goretex and Mr Hyde. 13 tracks of brutal hardcore rap from the Psycho-logical camp. Features guest appearances from Igor Cavalera (of Sepultura), Alex Skolnick (of Testament), Matt Harvey (of Exhumed) and Vinny Appice (of Black Sabbath/Dio).

Alright, first and foremost, I have to say that most of the one and two star reviews below me were written by radicals that have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. To the guy that says that Necro is a "typical Jew", way to go. You've managed to show everyone reading this how weak minded you are by listening and believing typical stereotypes. You are the last thing that hip-hop needs. This review is coming from a non-racist, lover of all kinds of music.

First off, I believe the production to be outstanding and diverse. Sometimes you'll have a creepy horror movie sample coinciding with the evil death rap being spit, and others, you'll have bludgeoning metal riffs and live drums slamming through your speakers. If you liked the production on Necro's "Pre-fix…." album or Mr. Hyde's "Barn Of The Naked Dead" album, you be just as pleased with the production on this one. Also, something must be said about Necro's bass playing. The man is a madman on the fretboard. I've been playing bass for five years and still have trouble producing the groove that Necro so easily displays. It's not that it's difficult to play, it's just really groovy. It's the quality, and that's what matters.

The MCs are top knotch of course. I don't have a particular favorite because I think they all shine at different times during this album. Ill Bill is like a chameleon, he can rhyme about anything and make it sound good. Goretex spatters his usual drug-induced, metal music inspired rhyming. Hyde is as sick as always as he explains how he will torture and murder you. Necro is in top notch form as usual. I love the metal references he puts into the music. The man knows what he's talking about. He knows the metal scene. I know that rap and metal being blended together is nothing new, but if someone is to finally do it the right way, it's going to be Necro.

With all of this said, I'd like to say that all I have written was merely my opinion. I can't guarantee that you'll like this album, but I happen to love it. Listen for yourself and make the judgement.

Death Rap is the fifth studio album by American hip hop musician Necro, released on September 11, 2007 by Psycho+Logical-Records through Koch Distribution. It was the first studio album Necro released since signing with Koch in July 2007. As the title suggests, the album is Necro's return to emphasis on gore and violence, rather than sex, such as in his 2005 album The Sexorcist.

Necro's 2007 album, Death Rap, is poised to reinvent hip-hop and aggressive metal music as we know it. Not many other artists have managed to strike a balance between the two styles of music without watering down one or the other. Death Rap pushes both genres to their extremes, far surpassing anything Necro or anyone else has done in the past While Necro is an underground hip-hop legend, his first musical project was playing guitar in a death metal band. However, his love of rap music soon set him on the path of writing, recording, and releasing albums on his own label Psycho+Logical-Records. Behind the boards, Necro is a master craftsman with a keen ear for samples and arrangements, having provided beats for a variety of hip-hop artists from Non-Phixion and Vinnie Paz to the Missin' Linx and Raekwon. But, on the mike, he's got just trick up his sleeve and that trick is bad taste. And not just ordinary bad taste – the sort of bad taste that would make John Waters shudder. Necro's objective is to push listeners to the limits of disgust and revulsion and his M.O. is uncompromisingly vulgar lyrics rife with X-rated sleaze and bloody violence via a pounding, rapid-fire flow based on the G-Rap school of delivery. On his sixth LP, Necro the lyricist hasn't changed much; he's still trying to endear listeners by threatening to "put you in full-body cast/twist your spine like a Pilates class" and putting bloody twists on old adages (i.e. "your heart's in the right place/on the floor, mangled"). But beatheads and amateur producers won't be able to deny the sheer skills displayed on this record. Necro manages to compose backdrops for his signature slasher rap verses out of such unusual starting points as Scott Walker's "The Rope and the Colt," Bob Dylan's "Masters of War," and Shocking Blue's original recording of "Love Buzz." Elsewhere, he molds a compelling Vietnam-themed schlocker using tools from the second Rambo flick (samples from Jerry Goldsmith's score as well as bits of anguished dialogue) on "First Blood." But the record's most unexpected moment comes when a loop of Ani DiFranco's "Used to You" as she croons "I got a thing for assholes who tell good stories" segues into a barrage of sexually brutal lyrics on "The Asshole Anthem." If it were an instrumental record, Die! could very well stand up to the great beat albums of Pete Rock, Rob Swift, and J Dilla but, as things are, each song is an onslaught of gruesome rhymes and low-brow tastelessness, making Die! a hard listen. Admittedly, it's not for everybody – well, to be realistic, it's probably for very few. Even the most desensitized hardcore hip-hop fans will have trouble getting through the entire track list. Nonetheless, Die! represents one man's unique and grotesque vision. There are no guest MCs and no other production talents on hand. Die! is pure Necro and is as close to sleaze – literally translated into music – as it gets.

Ill Bill is the biological brother of necro and Q-Unique and Ill Bill both worked at Fat Beats before closing in Manhattan, New York. Ill Bill is 40 and NECRO (Ron Rafael Braunstein) is 36. Their father fought in the 6 day Israeli war and came to New York to Flushing, Queens and wound up a janitor living in Glenwood Public Housing (Projects) which are in East Brooklyn in Canarsie. Not exactly where the tourists go or the hipsters from America come to New York to live. Take the L train past Broadway Junction and thats where things get interesting with these guys at the last stop. I went to the second to last stop to a UPS warehouse once and will never forget it. Kool G. Rap (From Corona,Queens), "Wanted Dead or Alive" used to get played regularly when I was 17 driving around to school and work. Necro is like a Kool G. Rap reinvented who Bobbito has given credit for being one of the best lyricists of all time. I listen to Necro and sometimes and I think its Kool G. Rap or Kool G. Rap is the featured artist on the song. Necro and Ill Bill are the real deal and one time Ill Bill told me that, "We are not thugs and we do not do thug things". They have Romanian ancestry which is a language which is the live equivalent of the dead language Latin with a different script. Necro brings back old school hip hop updated with a Brooklyn accent which is very unique and local dialect which doesn't come across as tough (just hard to beat at a M.C. battle), but thats is not his thing from what I read in interviews. Very nonchalant and not really caring so don't be so stupid to take these topics or words seriously. I DOWNLOADED "DIE!", "Gory Days", and "Pre-Fix for Death", which are some of the best hip hop albums in history and I have been listening to Hip Hop since 1984. Went from cassettes to vinyl but never bought a hip hop CD. Its important to know that Ill Bill and Necro were into bands like Slayer and Metallica before rap hence the name NECRO from the Slayer song, "Necrophobic". Goretex is also from Glenwood Projects and still is into old school metal like Ill Bill and Necro. I didn't sleep on Non-Phixion (Ill Bill, Goretex, Sabac Red, Dj Eclipse (no longer together but check the history)) but I did unfortunately sleep on Necro. I heard him freestyle on WNYU 89.1 once back in the day and thought it was good but missed all the hard work he put in until now anyway. Necro used to go to Stretch and Bob with heat before on 89.9 but I missed those shows. Look up Injustice, "Inhuman Conditions". Ill Bill and Necro's death thrash band had some pretty shattering cymbals, definitely some intense stuff. Thanks for the post; Doom and Napalm Death have a similar idea. Necro does no drugs or alcohol, is eating a very healthy diet, and exercises twice a day so don't get it confused.
