Funkallisto First Album

Funkallisto is a recently formed sextet (Feb '04) coming straight from the vibranthe art of Rome-Trastevere.
The coming together of six musicians has culminated in a project delivering a repertoire of funk, soul-jazz and afro-beat played in the unmistakable 'funkallisto' style.The band offers a stompin' two hour show (often including djs and dancers) creating anexplosive atmosphere made to make you move with the grooveInfact over the last year and a half 2300 self produced and distributed cds have been sold.
Open to collaborations Funkallisto have teamed up with soulfood, dj papik, alien seduction, djcoppola, dj mocasso and Titubanda to mention a few.
They have played the major clubs in Rome,Chirringuito(Barcelona), Cafè Zapata (Berlin), Ziantò and Groove cafè(Sardinia) and participated in the following festivals; 'Artrastevere' for the 'festa
della musica' at S.maria in Trastevere with a group of breakdancers,'Roman Holiday'(Shanghai 10 Sep-10 Oct '04), 'Nottebianca 2005' and 'Microfestival 2005'(Rome), 'Borgo in festa 2005'(Fiano Romano) and 'Il paesedei balocchi'(Terni).

Funkallisto believe in keeping the streets alive with the sound of music thanks to a set up that enables them to create live street events. Ponte Sisto(a historical bridge in the centreof Rome) has become a legendary location for the group and the Roman underground nightlifescene taking them to Florence, Viareggio, Nice, Montpellier, Barcelona, Perugia(Umbria jazz),Berlin, Prague, Sassari, Cagliari, Alghero, the 'Berchidda jazz festival' and 'Musica sullebocche'(Sardinia).

Work is currently in progress on a new album.
