Oresteïa [1966] for children's choir, mixed choir and instrumental ensemble, for solo baritone and percussionist soloist on Greek texts from Aeschylus.

Kassandra is an independent work, but it is obligatorily interpreted when one plays Oresteïa (which includes three other parts: Agamemnon, Choéphores, Euménides). Spiros Sakkas gives an unheard of interpretation, alternating head and chest. Because the soothsayers are always double beings, between reason and delirium.

Here we are far from the ideal of measurement which the century of Pericles preached. Oresteia: a world of violence and immoderation, where the blood calls the blood, where the music is cut by a giant's hand as were, it is said, the ramparts of Mycenae. It is an archaic Greece that lives here, full of quarrels from rival clans, before justice prevails over the law of retaliation. Without pretending to ethnomusicological reconstitution, the work borrows from the old and scholarly fashions (those that gave birth to Byzantine and Gregorian music) as well as popular repertoires; it is a wild liturgy, codified preliminaries before the human sacrifice. In Orestea, between drive and rule, we mean: and Destiny and Time at work. Inexorably.
