Hailing from Tempe, Arizona, the quartet known simply as Refreshments would arrive, make their mark, and leave just as quickly after just two studio albums. Formed in 1994, the group was famous for its ironic lyrics and melodic alternative pop sound, and they gained a fair amount of local fame for their stage antics. They self-released an album called Wheelie, which led to an eventual signing with Polygram Records, who distributed their first album proper, 1996's Fizzy Fuzzy Big & Buzzy. The album was a minor hit and did well on college radio, but the group raised the bar significantly on their sophomore effort, The Bottle & Fresh Horses, which was far more musically accomplished than their breezy debut. However, commercial success continued to elude the group and they disbanded shortly thereafter.
