innerinnerlife’s ‘ILYSM’ is about perfect moments lived and yet to come. Casting back a gaze, indulging the trembling embrace of nostalgia, the border between revisiting the past and remaining there. It’s about teenage epiphanies, the first music-induced skip of a heartbeat; breathing, whispering, feeling. The dazzle of a dream only realised in retrospect.

Time shapes our world and our concepts. From earth’s erosion to patterns in nature — fossils, stone formations, crystalline ice, glaciers, or delicate shells — all visual images of forms show us the linear time which passed across them. Simultaneously, there is the quite personal psychological time that shapes our life and memories; it’s how we perceive the progress of our consciousness. Within both, time remains an abstract term with no shape. It can only be explained as a rate and duration of observed change.

Iterations is the continuation of the narrative established with Old Fire's full length album Voids. Old Fire's writer and producer, John Mark Lapham, explains that these songs were recorded in the same span of time, a very fruitful period: “With the way I record for Old Fire, I get so much material recorded with the various contributors that it's oftentimes hard to switch off the construction process. I get really immersed in these recordings and keep going until there's nowhere left to go.

Acts of Light is a fugue comprised of nine slow hypnotic dirges. Vulnerability, majesty, and candour elicited with drone, double bass, field recordings and sacred choral chant compose its private ritual.
