Any Soul Music lover will reel off a list of historic labels that influenced their passion. From the sophisticated style of Philadelphia International, or the raw edge of Brunswick - to the soulful dance floor appeal of Salsoul, Prelude and TK.

Much of this classic era still influences what's going in present times and the legacy of good soul music continues with this brand new label Sed Soul, short for seductive soul which is based in Germany and is the brainchild of writer and producer Rob Hardt.
Rob has teamed up with renowned Danish musician and fellow 'soul head' Frank Ryle to create 'Cool Million'.

'Sweet Baby' feat Me'lisa Morgan delivers some hard edged funky soul with a groovetastic synth bassline and delicious diva style vocals, a promising start. The old school continues with 'Back For More' - Check the smooth vocals of Eugene Wilde and again a great synth bass and lush early 80's style production with it's cool 2 to the floor beat drives this on as a cool midtempo floor filler.

Much of this platter has it's derivations in glories past but I guess they're carrying on the torch and by enlarge Sed Soul are onto a winning combination. This compilation is the smoothest of soul grooves with a satin finish and will no doubt please UK soul overs time and time again. The production is first class as is the well honed arrangements and these tracks luxuriate freely in a wash of crisp funk guitar proper basslines and lush strings.

The only criticism I can offer is that there's alot of same tempo numbers bunched together, so when the slower numbers kick in like 'Magiq' - it's a welcome relief. But then they too are all huddled together - well three in a row anyway. This is just nitpicking. Cool Million is an impressive start to the new label and the flames of soul are alight with quality such as this.
